3-Unit Play. #755 Take Southern Illinois (+1) over Austin Peay State (8 p.m., Tuesday,
November 19)
The Salukis may have started the season 0-2 but SIU covered both those games as double digit
underdogs to the likes of Missouri and Saint Louis. Oddsmakers have favored them here and
rightfully so. They are the better team from the better conference, and after dropping a couple of
games to superior teams, they again cover but do so with a victory in the standings as well.
triple-dime bet 703 NYK 4.0 (-110) 5dimes vs 704 DET
Analysis: I'm grabbing the points with the NY Knicks on Tuesday night. I went against the Knicks on Saturday and we cashed an easy winner with the Atlanta Hawks. Knicks' coach Mike Woodson was not a happy man following the loss. In fact, he even said, "I'm not here to teach effort" after Monday's practice. Woodson said, "Everybody can give effort. Every night that you step out on the floor, practice floor, you've got to be able to give effort and I've got to see that. And right now, I'm not seeing it." Carmelo Anthony echoed Woodson's statements. I suspect New York will give max effort on the road tonight where they're actually 2-1 SU this season. I also believe NY is getting "just what the doctor ordered" in this one. The Pistons return home following a 4-game road trip and they aren't playing well on either end of the floor. Detroit is allowing nearly 104 ppg. They rank 30th in FG percentage allowed and 29th against the trey. And they roll into this one covering just one of their last six games. The Knicks are 18-5 ATS in their last 23 games against teams playing .250 to .400 basketball, outscoring those teams by an average of 102-92. They also play a hounding type of defense, which hurts Detroit. The Pistons are on a 4-15 ATS slide against teams that force at least 16 turnovers per game. Finally, the Knicks are on a 7-0 SU/ATS run against Detroit. I'm taking the poˆints with the Knicks, my DogPound release on Tuesday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
3 Unit Play#727 Arizona State -4.5 over UNLV (10:00pm est):
Not sure two teams could look more different to start their season than these two schools.
Arizona State has looked very good with three nice wins and all coming by 26 points or higher.
Granted the Sun Devils did play an easy schedule but they made easy work of their three foes.
This is a solid team who was playing their best basketball of the season when last year ended.
UNLV has been awful to begin their year. In fact I am not sure I have seen a team look worse
that was suppose to be decent than the Rebels thus far. Even their opening game win over
Portland State was much closer than the score in that one.
Play Arizona State here.
3 Unit Play Take #755 Southern Illinois +2 over Austin Peay (8:00pm est):
Austin Peay head coach Dave Loos has been around a long time and he has built a decent
program but things really fell apart last season as the Governors won just eight games on the
season and this comes in a bad Ohio Valley Conference where they won just four games last year
. This team this year looks to be a tad better but is still a long ways off the standard for this
school.
Southern Illinois is off to an 0-2 start on the year but that probably has more to do with the fact
they have had to play two of the top 50 teams in CBB to begin the year, losing both games. SIU
are in the all important 2nd year of head coach Barry Hinson and it's usually during this season
when a team sees it's greatest improvements. Keep in mind also they are coming off a 14 win year
last season, their most wins since 2010.
Play Southern Illinois in this one.
3 Unit Play Take #751 Jacksonville State +9 over Auburn (8:05pm est):
Expecting a strong effort here from a Jacksonville State team who has started the season of at
0-4 to begin the year. It's probably not as bad as it looks as JSU has dropped three of the four
games by less than double digits. The Gamecocks won 17 games last season, their most in over a
decade. They return three starters from last year's group also.
This play probably has more to do with how bad I feel Auburn is than anything else as the Tigers
were an awful 9-23 last season and look to be no better this year. They do have an opening
game win but were soundly beaten at home in their last game versus Northwestern State.
Too many points in this one. Take Jacksonville State here.
