NFL Prop Shop: Week 13's best player prop bets
        By SEAN MURPHY

Covers Expert Sean Murphy isn’t satisfied with just betting spreads and totals. He’s opening the door to the NFL Prop Shop, giving you his best player prop picks for Week 13.

        Most passing yards

Mike Glennon (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. Cam Newton (Carolina Panthers)

Mike Glennon has quietly improved since taking over the Bucs starting quarterback job earlier this season, and he's seen his passing yardage increase in each of the last three games. While he faces a stiff challenge in the form of an elite Panthers defense, he also catches Carolina in a clear letdown spot off a big Monday night home win over the Patriots and a huge come-from-behind victory in Miami last Sunday.

The Panthers offense remains conservative in nature, as evidenced by the fact that Cam Newton has thrown for 209 yards or less in three straight games. While the Bucs may be a bottom-tier squad at 3-8 on the season, their pass defense has not been weak by any means, allowing only 6.6 yards per pass play, with that number dropping to 5.8 over their last three games.

        Take: Glennon

Ryan Fitzpatrick (Tennessee Titans) vs. Andrew Luck (Indianapolis Colts)

Andrew Luck won the passing yardage battle in the first matchup between these two teams this season, and I expect him to deliver a repeat performance here.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has actually performed well since replacing an injured Jake Locker three weeks ago, throwing for 262, 222 and 320 yards. However, the Colts know what to expect having just seen him run the Titans offense two weeks ago, and I expect them to do a much better job against him after he completed nearly 79 percent of his passes in that contest.

Luck is coming off a bad game in Arizona. Those have been few and far between. Prior to that ugly game, Luck had thrown for over 200 yards in seven straight contests. He bounces back in this spot.

        Take: Luck

        Most rushing yards

Maurice Jones-Drew (Jacksonville Jaguars) vs. Chris Ogbonnaya (Cleveland Browns)

I'm not going to overthink this one. Maurice Jones-Drew is coming off his best performance of the season, running for 84 yards on only 14 carries last week. He's scored a touchdown in three consecutive games, and I'm confident we'll see the Jags lean heavily on their star running back against an opportunistic Browns defense on Sunday.

Chris Ogbonnaya is the Browns starting running back, essentially by default. With that being said, he's carried the ball only 12 times over the last two games. He's run for a nice average, but I don't see him getting enough touches to outrun Jones-Drew on Sunday. The Jags defense has actually been tough on opposing runners lately, giving up just 2.4 yards per rush over their last three games.

        Take: Jones-Drew

        Most pass receptions

Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals) vs. DeSean Jackson (Philadelphia Eagles)

Since hauling in eight catches back in Week 8 against the Giants, DeSean Jackson has made only 13 catches combined in his last three games. However, he's still a big part of the Eagles offense, and I'm expecting him to have a big day against a Cardinals defense that might be a little high on its horse after four consecutive wins.

Larry Fitzgerald will obviously see blanket coverage from the Eagles defense on Sunday. While he continues to get plenty of pass targets, the fact is, he's topped out at six catches in 10 games since bringing in eight catches back in the opening week of the season.

        Take: Jackson

Game: Jacksonville at Cleveland (Sunday 12/01 1:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: Game Total OVER 40 (-105) at 5dimes

This one looks like a defensive game in Cleveland, right? Ahhh, no. The general public thinks so, which is why this total is low, but let's take a closer look. Jacksonville is bad on defense, ranked 18th against the pass and 29th versus the run. And they are giving up points: 27, 27, 42, 24, 35, 24, 37 and 45 in eight of their last nine games. As a result, the Jags are on a 5-2 run OVER the total, 4-1 OVER in their last five road games. QB Chad Henne is a significant upgrade over Blaine Gabbert, and has thrown for 239 and 255 yards the last two games. He faces a Cleveland defense that hasn't had a sack in two games. And, this defense has allowed a whopping 16 touchdown passes in their past six games. The last place Browns have been giving up points as well, 27, 41, 18, 23, 31, 31 and 24 the last seven games. Cleveland is on a 5-2 run OVER the total, and the OVER is 4-1 in the Browns last five against the AFC. Go with the OVER.

              Gridiron Angles - Week 13
              By Vince Akins

              NFL PLAY ON ATS TREND:

The Chargers are 10-0 ATS (14.55 ppg) since Oct 14, 2007 at home when one game under 500.

              NFL PLAY AGAINST TREND:

The Titans are 0-11 ATS (-8.82 ppg) since Dec 19, 2004 after a game in which they had at least 300 yards passing.

              TOP NFL PLAYER TREND:

Carson Palmer is 0-8 ATS (-14.44 ppg) since December 2011 as more than a two-point dog when he threw for between 205 and 370 yards last week.

              NFL BIBLE ACTIVE TREND:

The Chiefs are 0-17-2 OU (-9.3 ppg) since January 2005 when the total in the game is at least 47.

              NFL SUPER SYSTEM:

Teams that scored at least 27 points while gaining less than 255 yards last game are 79-52-7 OU. Active on Cincinnati.

              NFL O/U TREND:

The Panthers are 0-12 OU (-8.21 ppg) since Dec 12, 2004 as a home favorite when they have had a negative dpa in each of their last two games.

              PICK SIXTY SPORTS WEEKLY TIP:

The playoff picture is slowly starting to take shape as we flip the calendars to December and following Dallas’ win over the Raiders, Sunday night’s game between the New York Giants and Washington Redskins essentially becomes an elimination game. Washington was already manhandled by the 49ers in the first of its three-game home stand and if they even want anyone to show up for next week’s game against the Chiefs, the Skins better learn to play some defense and quick!

The Giants followed their Week 9 bye with three consecutive home games and they won the first two before getting swept in the season series vs. the Cowboys in Week 12. So far this season, teams who travel after an extended home stand are 2-4 SU, 3-3 ATS and 1-5 O/U. The longterm look-back (since 1989) shows a 50-percent record ATS with a slight lean to the under (55-percent) and the more recent record for totals is 27-46 O/U (63-percent UN).

Totals of 44 or more resulted in 6 overs and 18 unders the past six years and when the ATS line is single-digits, either way, that mark reduces to 3-18 O/U (85-percent UN). The Sunday night total is available at 46.5 and for this week’s tip we are taking the Giants and Redskins UNDER.

Pacers at Clippers: What bettors need to know

Indiana Pacers at Los Angeles Clippers

Two of the hottest teams in the NBA square off Sunday when the Indiana Pacers visit the Los Angeles Clippers. The Pacers have won six straight games and boast the league’s top record with a franchise-best 15-1 start while the Clippers have won four straight games and are 8-1 at home. Los Angeles point guard Chris Paul said Saturday that he is unsure if he will be able to play as he also missed Friday’s victory over Sacramento with a hamstring injury.

The Pacers have been the league’s top team early in the season but Clippers coach Doc Rivers is not going along with the notion that Indiana has closed the gap on the Miami Heat. “There’s only one elite team in the NBA right now and that’s Miami. That’s it,” Rivers said. “Everybody else is trying to get there. Indiana is playing great, but Miami is the only elite team in the NBA.” The Pacers are beginning a five-game trip that also includes visits to Portland, San Antonio and Oklahoma City.

TV: 3:30 p.m. ET, FSN Indiana, Prime Ticket (Los Angeles)

ABOUT THE PACERS (15-1): Indiana has allowed just 147 total points in its last two victories and is giving up an average of 84.5 during its six-game winning streak. The Pacers will be challenged on the road swing with four of the top teams in the Western Conference on the docket but certainly see it as an opportunity to further enhance their growing reputation. “Forgetting the string of games we have ahead, our team expects to win every time we step into a building, no matter who we’re playing or where we’re playing,” Indiana coach Frank Vogel said. “If we have that same mindset, we have a chance to have a great trip.”

ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (12-5): Center DeAndre Jordan and guard Jamal Crawford put together masterful performances on Friday with Jordan blocking a career-best nine shots to go with 10 points and 15 rebounds and Crawford doing a solid Paul impersonation with 31 points and 11 assists. Jordan’s name was floated as possible compensation while Rivers was considering leaving the Celtics to become Los Angeles coach and he made it known he wanted Jordan on the roster before he accepted the Clippers’ position. “D.J. had a Bill Russell night,” Rivers said after the Sacramento game. “He really did with nine blocks and the rebounds. It’s amazing what a defender can do for your team who just buys into it and he’s bought in 100 percent.”

                      TRENDS:

                      * Under is 12-4-1 in the last 17 meetings.
                      * Favorite is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
                      * Pacers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games.
                      * Clippers are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 vs. NBA Central.

                      BUZZER BEATERS:

                      1. The teams split two meetings last season with the home squad prevailing in each instance.

                      2. Indiana leads the league in scoring defense (85.6) and field-goal percentage defense (38.7).

                      3. Clippers G J.J. Redick (wrist) is questionable after leaving Friday’s game against Sacramento.
