Red Wings' Zetterberg out at least two weeks

The injures are getting worse for the Detroit Red Wings. Captain Henrik Zetterberg has suffered a herniated disc in his back, which will put the all-star forward on the shelf for at least the next two weeks.

General manager Ken Holland said Tuesday, that the 33-year-old Zetterberg would miss two weeks, but suggested he could be out longer than that.

Zetterberg joins Detroit's other best offensive threat, Pavel Datsyuk, on the injury list. Datsyuk is out indefinitely with a concussion. The Red Wings will have to find a way to score without their two most potent scorers. The two have combined for 53 points this season and both have averaged almost a point per game.

Detroit hosts the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday and are currently listed at +1400 to win the Stanley Cup.

We know the Warriors have not been performing great against the spread, but they have played six of their last eight games on the road and they have had a pretty tough overall schedule lately. This seems like the perfect game for them to get on track with a big win. Yes, Andre Iguodala is still likely out for this game on Tuesday. But this team really isn’t built around any one player, and they have a multitude of ways to beat you and lots of players that can score. The Raptors have been good at covering on the road this season, but this team just does not inspire a lot of confidence right now over all. They just dropped three straight games at home both straight up and ATS, and they were favored in two of those very winnable games (they lost by two to a depleted Brooklyn team and by 14 to a Denver team still trying to find its identity). They have lost five of their last seven overall, and they have failed to cover in any of the losses. This one had double-digit Golden State win written all over it. The Warriors always play well in this rare matchup and have won seven straight meetings and covered in eight straight at home, not to mention they have a long-term 16-5 ATS run going in this matchup.

Miami normally gets the best effort from their competition, and that is because this team is the one that everyone wants to knock off their throne. Beating the Heat is a highlight of any team’s season. While we don’t think that Detroit will likely win straight up tonight, we do think that this will be a very competitive game. Detroit has been very inconsistent this season, but when they are playing at their best they can compete with any team in the NBA, and we think they bring their A Game tonight in this matchup. This team has won and covered in three of their last five. They have been playing pretty well on offense, with four of five games over the century mark, and we think they will be able to score enough to cover the double digits tonight. Miami has been at its worst as a huge favorite, as they are just 2-5 ATS as a favorite of 9 or more this season.

That line closed at 209, so we are getting a better number here, and we think there is plenty of evidence to believe that this game will be much higher scoring than the one last week. The Magic got their points in that game as they scored 105 at home. They have already proven that they can score on this Philly defense (the worst in the league for points allowed per game by a full seven points over Houston). They shot better than 52 percent in that game, and they could have had an even better night if they had been better from beyond the arc (21.1 percent) and from the free throw line (71.4 percent). Orlando plays much better defense at home than on the road, and when traveling they allow nearly 105 PPG. The Sixers have play with the fastest tempo in the entire NBA, and they should be able to get close to 110 or even beyond that tonight. Philly doesn’t really blow teams out, so Orlando will get their points as well.
