Where the action is: Money on Niners and Over Monday night

The final Monday Night Football of the NFL season has kept books busy, with action coming in on the Falcons and Niners. We talk to Michael Stewart, an oddsmaker with CarbonSports.ag, about the line moves and where the odds could end up come kickoff.

Atlanta Falcons at San Francisco 49ers – Open: -13, Move: -14.5, Move: -14

While these teams are headed in different directions come Week 17 – Atlanta to the golf course and San Francisco likely to the playoffs – there is no lack of motivation for Atlanta. After losing in crushing fashion to the 49ers in the NFC title game last January, Atlanta could be fueled by revenge Monday night.

Bettors, however, aren’t buying it. Instead, they’re buying the Niners to cover this double-digit spread. Action on the home side have moved this line past the key number of 14, where finally Falcons bettors had enough and grabbed Atlanta at +14.5.

“We basically evened out on the game and went back to 49ers -14,” says Stewart. “At this point, we look great on the game and, unless it lands 14, we should make money regardless of the results.”

As for Monday’s total, the number opened 45 and took instant action on the Over. That pushed the total to as high as 46.5.

“With 80 percent of the action on the over, I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually went to 47 as we get closer to kickoff,” says Stewart.
