      CHASE DIAMOND

      10* MLB RUN LINE DESTOYER
      LA Dodgers vs. San Diego
      Point Spread: +1½/-135 San Diego

Today’s game features the 2-1 Dodgers and the 1-0 Padres. I played on the Padres to win on Sunday night to open up my MLB season and for my 4th straight year hit my opener. Tonight I am going back to the well with the Padres but this time taking the +1.5 line. Zach Greinke might be showing a little rust today as he’s missed the preseason due to a calf injury on the other mound is Ian Kennedy off a rough 2013 season he will look to start off strong. I believe the Padres will contend this year and if it’s like last season expect the Dodgers to start slow again. Take the Padres plus the 1.5 today to cover and give us a 10* win.

                NCAAB

                Tuesday, April 1

Clemson won eight of last 11 games, but only wins away from home in that stretch were both vs Ga Tech; Tigers are #1 in country defending on arc, allowing 28.4% of 3's to be made. Clemson beat Temple by 14, its only game vs AAC opponent. SMU won at UConn Feb 23, looked like shoo-in for NCAAs, then lost three in row to fall off bubble- they lost by 3 to Virginia, its only game vs ACC opponent. Mustangs lost three of last four games away from home; they make 38.2% behind arc.

Yale won its last three games by total of nine points, allowing average of 67.7 ppg. VMI scored 82+ points in 11 of its last 12 wins; they scored 111-106-92 points in first three games of this tournament- they scored 66 ppg in their last four losses. Bulldogs won six of last eight true road tilts. Keydets are 10-6 out of conference; they've won five of their last six at home, 12 of last 15 games overall.

Pacific allowed 62.3 ppg in winning first three games in this tourney; it had lost five of last six games coming in. Tigers are in top 20 in country in experience, but this is their first trip east of Rockies this year, Murray State won 16 of last 20 games; they lost by 25 at St Mary's of WCC in November. Racers' last three losses are all by 3 points. Murray makes 37.6% from arc (#56); they've won their last thirteen home games.

Minnesota (-3.5) beat Florida State 71-61 at home Dec 3, going 28-38 on foul line with +11 (17-6) turnover ratio; Gophers shot just 29.7% inside arc, with nine shots blocked by Seminoles. FSU won seven of last nine games, with four of last five wins by 5 or less points- they've won four of last five games away from home. Minnesota lost eight of its last ten games away from home; they're 4-9 this season against teams in top 50. Florida State dominates inside; they're 4th-tallest team in America.

Game of the Day: Rockets at Nets

                  Houston Rockets at Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets seek a franchise-record 14th straight home win Tuesday while the Houston Rockets aim for their 15th consecutive victory over the Nets when they meet Tuesday in a matchup of teams close to clinching playoff spots. Brooklyn entered Monday with a chance to wrap up a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference with a New York loss in Utah, or it can do the trick with a win over the Rockets, whose magic number to clinch a spot in the West was at three entering Monday. The Nets' run at the Barclays Center continued with a 114-99 win over Minnesota on Sunday, matching Oklahoma City's NBA-high 13-game run at home earlier this season.

Houston had won five in a row before a 118-107 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, which left the Rockets two games behind the Clippers in the race for third place in the West entering Monday. Starters Dwight Howard and Patrick Beverley missed the game for Houston with injuries; Howard is day-to-day with a left ankle strain and Beverley is out indefinitely with a torn meniscus in his left knee. Howard was one of six Rockets to score in double figures in a 114-95 win over Brooklyn on Nov. 29.

                  TV: 8 p.m. ET, TNT

LINE HISTORY: The line opened at -2 for Brooklyn but quickly moved to -3 for the Nets.

INJURY REPORT: Rockets: C Dwight Howard (Out, Ankle), G Patrick Beverley (Out indefinitely, Knee). Nets: F Andre Kirilenko (Questionable, Ankle), F Kevin Garnett (Out indefinitely, Back)

WHY BET THE ROCKETS (49-23 SU, 37-33-2 ATS, 37-33-2 O/U): Some of those relied upon to pick up the slack for Howard and Beverley fell flat against the Clippers. Guard Jeremy Lin went 1-of-9 from the floor in his first start since Feb. 12 while power forward Terrence Jones managed two points in 19 minutes while dealing with foul trouble. James Harden continued his hot play with 32 points and is averaging 30.8 over his last five games.

WHY BET THE NETS (39-33 SU, 39-33 ATS, 37-31-1 O/U): After a sluggish showing in Brooklyn's last loss Wednesday in Charlotte, Paul Pierce has found the stroke once again, hitting 10-of-14 3-pointers over the course of consecutive 22-point efforts. The veteran has scored a total of 33 points in the last two first quarters, setting the tone for a squad that has won 13 of 17 overall to continue to turn its poor start into little more than a footnote. "I think a lot of teams with bad character, bad leadership in the locker room would've laid down a long time ago," Pierce told reporters Sunday. "Probably by Christmas would've been making summer plans. But not this group."

                  TRENDS:

                  * Rockets are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.
                  * Over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings.
                  * Rockets are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games.
                  * Nets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven vs. Western Conference.

                  CONSENSUS:
57 percent of backers are taking the Rockets

                    NHL

                    Tuesday, April 1

This week's best NHL spot bet opportunities

                    Letdown spot

The Senators are in a quick turnaround spot on Monday night, coming off a much-needed 6-3 win over Calgary on Sunday. Having collected at least a point in four straight games, winning three of those, I don't see a home game against the lowly Hurricanes drawing enough intensity.

Note that Carolina hasn't lost back-to-back games since March 15th and 16th and have picked up at least a point in three of its last four contests. This is the more winnable game for the Canes on a tough two-game trip that will also include a stop in Pittsburgh.

                    Lookahead spot

The Kings will host the Coyotes on Wednesday night, but could have one eye on Thursday's date with the rival Sharks in San Jose.

Phoenix has been a much better team on home ice this season, but that hasn't necessarily been the case lately. The 'Yotes enter the new week having won three of their last four games on the road, including a 4-3 victory in Los Angeles.

                    Schedule spot

A tough turnaround for the Blue Jackets on Friday night, as they return home to host a team they always struggle against, the Blackhawks, fresh off a game in Philadelphia on Thursday.

The Jackets are fighting for their playoff lives, but with the Blackhawks coming off a rough patch, I expect to see the defending Stanley Cup champs bring their 'A' game into this affair.
