We really like Sonny Gray for the Athletics and he takes the mound tonight against the surprising Mariners. Gray has had quite a bit of success against the Mariners over his short career, sporting a 2-0 record with a 1.50 ERA in three starts, holding the M’s to a .172 average while striking out 18 batters over just 18 innings. The Mariners are going to counter with Erasmo Ramirez, who is 1-1 on the young season with a 5.73 ERA. This looks like a really good spot to back Gray in one of the shorter prices you will see on him this season. The Sharps say…

I am not a huge fan of Scheppers, but IF the Cardinals win I will go back and take Houston for the free money, or perhaps get greedy and play the RL, which I had thought about doing anyways

Friday MLB recap: 5-2, +2.09u

Good news and bad news. The good news is we have now won 5 days in a row on the diamond and going for 6 today! The bad news is we can’t seem to hit a best bet right now, in turn ruining what would be monster nights. That being said, we aren’t too concerned about this mini-slump we’re in with our best bet as it is a proven winner and will always win long term. It’s never failed us for even a month and we don’t plan on that changing anytime soon.

INDIANS @ WHITE SOX – OVER 8.5 -115 *5* (2:10 PM ET) BEST BET

These two teams have played to 10 and 15 runs in their first two meetings – with both offenses putting up a lot of runs. Masterson hasn’t been great to start the year – and the White Sox have been scoring at a 6.36 clip this season, not good news for Masterson. Add in that Paulino on the mound for the White Sox has been lit up early this season owning a WHIP of 2.28 and an ERA of 6.52, just terrible numbers.

Both meetings between these teams this year have gone under, and both offenses havent hit their stride. Both Lackey and Kuroda had great years last year, and both own great numbers after two starts this season (Lackey 0.85 WHIP, 1.38 ERA – Kuroda 0.97 WHIP, 2.92 ERA). Both teams this season are scoring in the mid-3′s this season, that will not get you to 8.5, especially against these pitchers.

The Twins are 9-1 to the over this season, scoring na average of 5.6 runs per game on the season. While Shields is on the mound and we don’t expect them to put up 6 – we expect them to score a couple (2-3) – however as Nolasco is on the mound for the Twins, we expect the Royals offense to come out to play. Nolasco has been terrible to start the season with a WHIP of 2.3 and an ERA of 9!

ASTROS @ RANGERS – UNDER 9.5 -115 *1* (8:10 PM ET)

The Astros couldn’t hit beach ball right now and this number should not be up at 9.5. The Astros have scored 3 or less runs in 7 of their first 10 games, on top of that were shutout in a 12 inning game yesterday. The pitching matchup here is not the greatest but neither of these teams are hitting right now, not many units but we are on this play today.

DODGERS ML -118 *2* (8:10 PM ET)

This is a short price for the better team with the better pitcher. The Dodgers have won 10 of Greinke’s last 11 starts vs a team with a losing record. Miley has been good early but the Dodgers still have 5 guys with a career average over .300 vs Miley.
