Monday night: Mr. Aitch expects Smyly to provide something to grin about — 10 units on the Tigers. Also, he will try an investment on Leake to hose the Nats — 10 units on the Reds.
10* MLB DIAMOND PLAY
Detroit vs. Cleveland
Money Line: +105 Cleveland
This game has the 27-12 Tigers at the 19-25 Indians. Detroit is the better team here but not every team gets up for every game and this is one of those spots. Tigers have won 6 straight including a big emotional sweep against rival Boston in Boston. They should not be up for this game on the other side the Indians have lost 4 straight and really need the win tonight.Drew Smyly is pitching over his head and is due for a bad start Corey Kluber has been solid this year a 4-3 with a 3.38 ERA look for him to give the Indians the needed boost and win over the Tigers here today. Play on Indians for a 10* winner.
Monday's MLB betting cheat sheet: Monday sked a light one
Here's a comprehensive look at betting notes for Monday's major league games:
Fenway Fail
Things couldn't have gone much worse for the Boston Red Sox over the weekend, as they were swept by the Central Division-leading Detroit Tigers despite being -106, -137 and -119 favorites in those games. Boston, which fell to $-869 for the season, resumes its homestand Tuesday against Toronto.
Royal Wakeup
Kansas City's offense came to life in Sunday's series finale with Baltimore, banging out 11 hits - four coming from Alex Gordon - in an 8-6 victory. It was the Royals' first Over in six games; the Royals came into the afternoon having scored just two total runs in their previous three contests.
Quiet Monday
Monday's schedule has just five games, with three of those featuring heavy home favorites. Washington is a -171 fave against visiting Cincinnati, while Kansas City is installed at -175 versus the Chicago White Sox and the Los Angeles Angels a whopping -205 bet against Houston.
Pitching Notes
* Angels right-hander Garrett Richards has led his team to a 4-1 moneyline record and an 0-4-1 O/U mark over his last five starts, allowing no more than three runs in any of them while racking up 36 strikeouts in 33 innings over that span. Richards will be opposed Monday by Houston's Dallas Keuchel.
* Washington ace Stephen Strasburg saw his four-game moneyline winning streak halted last time out, but has racked up five consecutive quality starts and is 8-1 in his previous nine outings as a favorite of -170 or greater. He'll face off Monday with Cincinnati's Mike Leake.
Batting Notes
* Royals outfielder Alex Gordon broke out of a season-long slump in a big way, slamming a pair of home runs in Kansas City's victory Sunday afternoon. Gordon has four multi-hit efforts in his last nine games; the Royals are 3-1 against the moneyline and 2-1-1 O/U in those contests.
* Boston designated hitter David Ortiz has just three hits - all singles - in his previous four games following back-to-back multi-homer efforts against the Minnesota Twins. Ortiz leads the way for the offensively challenged Red Sox with 11 home runs; no other Boston player has more than five.
Totals Streak
Boston Red Sox (0-4 O/U): Not only did the Red Sox allow Detroit to leave with a three-game sweep, they scored just three runs over those three games. Boston has managed just six runs during its four-game losing skid and is a surprising 15-26-2 O/U for the season.
Injury Notes
* An MRI conducted on Washington Nationals left-hander Gio Gonzalez revealed shoulder inflammation but no damage. Gonzalez was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday; he had lost his previous three starts prior to the DL stint while lasting just 7 1/3 innings in his previous two outings combined.
* Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) is expected to return to the rotation Wednesday against the host New York Mets. The Dodgers are 3-4 against the moneyline and 2-4-1 O/U in his seven starts this season; he has yet to allow a run on the road this season, tossing 26 shutout innings.
Weather Watch
* Kauffman Stadium will see winds blowing out to left field at 17 mph for the game between the Royals and the visiting White Sox. Kansas City played just five games last season in which the wind favored the hitters; the Royals were 4-1 against the moneyline and 2-3 O/U in those contests.

Monday NHL Playoff Preview Game 2 NY. Rangers at Montreal Canadiens at 8:05 eastern on NBC Sports Network. This series resumes here tonight with the NY. Rangers holding a 1-0 lead courtesy of their 7-1 game one win on Saturday afternoon. In that game the Rangers put away a Montreal team that appeared disorganized on defense with several breakdowns. The Rangers score in bunches and had the game put away early ion the 3rd period. The Rangers outburst was a surprise to many as they scored just 1 goal in 3 games this season vs Montreal. Now they head into game 2 which should be much tougher. In fact as seen below. All road teams in game 2 of this round are 18-32 good for 36% off a game 1 road win. The Rangers are on an 0-5 run in game 2 of a 7 game series off a win and are a dismal 0-12 when leading in a playoff series. However, the Rangers take the fewest amount of penalties in the league and have the #3 power play kill unit. They have played excellent defense and have Lundquist in goal. New York has won 4 straight games and have allowed 2 or less goals in each of those wins. This should be a closely contested game and 7 of the last 8 between these two teams have had 5 or less goals scored. Look for this one to be close late with goals at a premium in what should be a solid game. We will lean with the under 5 goals. Start the week big with us as we have a 5* NBA 96% System winner and a 100% 5* MLB Totals system tonight. GC
