This will be a great pitchers duel tonight. The Phillies have won 5 straight, but this is not a team that is going to go on monster runs. Washington is a better baseball team and should take the second game in this series behind Stasburg tonight. Take the Nationals.
Cincy has been hard hit by injuries but keeps winning while the Bucs bulpen continues to let them down. After cashing with the Reds yesterday, let’s stay on them again tonight for another FREE WINNER! Tonight’s Reds starter Mike Leake has really been pitching well for the Reds lately going 4-1 with a 3.21 ERA in his last five starts.Cincy has won 6 of 7 while Pittsburgh has dropped 6 of 7 heading into this contest so lets play the percentages and back the Reds again tonight.
The Argonauts are not going to stop anyone this year until they make some serious adjustments and right now they don’t have the personnel to make those adjustments. Despite whacking the Riders last week, Toronto’s defense still allowed 447 yards of offense to a Saskatchewan team that came unprepared. In Week 1 in Winnipeg, Toronto’s defense allowed 459 yards and 45 points. The Argos defense is going to need more than a couple of weeks of action to correct all the things that have gone wrong, as they return just four defensive players from a year ago. This is an inexperienced defense in a league in which that inexperience gets exploited to the full extent. The Stampeders have had two weeks to prepare a game plan to score points and that’s precisely what they’re likely to do. Incidentally, Calgary hung up a 29 in their opening week win over the Alouettes and even without Jon Cornish, they should easily equal or surpass that number in this one.
Toronto is well aware of their defensive deficiencies and they’re well aware that in order to have any chance of winning whatsoever they are going to have to put up plenty of points. The Argos are built to do just that. Ricky Ray continues to put up outstanding numbers with an off the chart completion percentage week after week after week. Toronto was flat in Week 1 in Winnipeg but Ray and the Argos ripped apart the Riders last week to the tune of 568 net yards and 48 points. The Argos are unlikely to duplicate that total here but they’re still very capable of putting up 30+ points every week, especially at home on that fast track. What we have here is two potentially potent offenses and one horrible defense. Calgary’s defense is the only question mark, as its effort against Montreal in Week 1 cannot be measured accurately because Troy Smith was absolutely brutal, as was the entire team. From where we stand, this looks like another shootout in Toronto with both team putting up 30 plus.
After the Pirates blew a 5-1 lead late in the game yesterday, the baseball gods are screaming at us to take time off. We're listening. See you either tomorrow or after the All-Star break. Pass on Saturday's MLB action.
Strong winds could help offenses at this ball park
Andrew Caley Jul 12, 2014
There will be strong winds reaching up to 18 miles per hour blowing out to left-center field at AT&T Park in San Francisco when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The total for the game is currently at 7.5 and the over/under is 13-15 in conditions like this.
