Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs October 8, 07:00 EST
The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens kick off the 2014-15 NHL season Wednesday at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The Canadiens won three of five meetings last season, but have dropped four of the past five season openers vs the Leafs. Sportsbooks currently list Buds anywhere from -$1.10 to -$1.15 favorites depending on locale.
San Jose Sharks at Los Angeles Kings October 8, 10:10 EST
The defending Stanley Cup Champion Kings will be facing a hungry pod of Sharks when the two meet in the opener. Complimentary NHL Pick for October 8th, 2014
Game: San Jose Sharks @ Los Angeles Kings
Time: Wednesday 10/08 10:05 PM Eastern
Pick: San Jose +125 (moneyline) at Bookmaker
The San Jose Sharks have long had a strong presence at home at the Shark Tank where they own some impressive numbers. Last year they broke through on the road after the strike shortened 2012-13 season saw them go 8-14 on the road. They came back last year to go 22-14 on the highway. They will bring a bad taste in their mouths to Los Angeles as the Sharks held a 3-0 series lead in their opening round playoff series vs. the Kings yet lost four straight to get bounced from the playoffs. Ultimately, the Kings, with renewed confidence went on to win it all. The Kings have lost a big component to their stellar defense as Willie Mitchell has left for Florida. Celebrating last year's Stanley Cup win will serve as a distraction and will fire up the Sharks even more. The Sharks have a score to settle here and they get it done.Comment
