      Doc CBB:

4 Unit Play. #524 Take Ohio -12 over Appalachian State (2 pm) The Saul Phillips era gets underway in Athens this afternoon taking on a cupcake opponent in Appalachian State. Phillips in an upgrade at coach for the Bobcats as we was very success at North Dakota State and should keep Ohio close to the top of the standing in the MAC. As for Appalachian State they move into the Sun Belt Conference and they are predicted to finish last. Ohio is 22-10 ATS in their last 32 nonconference games.

4 Unit Play. #531 Take Kent State -3.5 over Youngstown State (7 pm) This series has been dominated in recent years by the Golden Flashes as the Penguins have not beaten them since 2006. Kent State was disappointing last season but they do return their top three scorers from 2013-2014 and are playing a bad team from a much worse conference. Kent State is 14-6 ATS in their last 20 road games. Youngstown State is 0-6 ATS in their last 6 road games.

4 Unit Play. #546 Take Florida State -10.5 over Manhattan (1 pm ESPN 3) The Noles have a much more important game tonight in football but they should be able to knock down this mid-major program to open up their basketball campaign. This is a typical FSU team with a ton of size and strength and that will allow them to shutdown this Jasper team and eventually pull away in the second half. FSU is 9-4 ATS (1 push) in their last 13 nonconference games. FSU should make the tournament this season and this is the game needed in order to get off on the right foot. Manhattan made the tournament last season by winning their conference tournament but much of that firepower is gone and they will lose this game by 20 points.

                OC Dooley:
“1 UNIT” MIDDAY COLLEGE REVENGE SPECIAL (North Carolina State -16’ at home versus Wake Forest in a 3:00 pm eastern kickoff televised nationally on Fox Sports Net): It is hard to believe but today marks the home finale for the Wolfpack who have not been kind to investors (2-4 ATS) in front of their faithful. But there is a reason why North Carolina State is a prohibitive favorite as they are facing an Atlantic Coast Conference bottom-feeder. As personally predicted Wake Forest successfully covered the spread last week in a rare “primetime” appearance at home versus Clemson but it is going to be difficult for them to be wired emotionally once again. If anyone can empathize with Dave Clawson’s tough first year with Wake Forest it is Dave Doeren. North Carolina State had dropped 12 consecutive “league” games during the initial two campaigns with Doeren calling the shots before a couplke of weeks ago when they finally broke through at Syracuse. Doeren has yet to win a conference game at HOME and today is the final shot in 2014. This is a REVENGE special as a year ago Wake Forest in front of their own fans (+8) pulled off the outright upset that North Carolina State has not forgotten

                            ROBERT FERRINGO (CBB)

1-Unit Play. Take #531 Kent State (-4) over Youngstown State (7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15)

                            1-Unit Play. Take #556 Colorado State (-17) over Montana (10 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15)

                            1-Unit Play. Take #562 LSU (-14) over Gardner Webb (1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15)

1-Unit Play. Take #548 Northern Iowa (-22) over North Dakota (2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15)

There aren’t many teams in the country that lost as much talent and experience as North Dakota. Four senior starters are gone from last year’s No. 11 most experienced team in the nation. And even with a load of talent and experience this team still went just 17-17. They are starting from scratch here and are facing a Northern Iowa team that should be a player in The Valley this year. Northern Iowa isn’t a great scoring team. But they should smother UND and that will help them get out ahead of this number.

                            5-Unit Play. Take #546 Florida State (-10) over Manhattan (1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15))

I’m not sure if you noticed the overriding theme yesterday, but to me it was pretty obvious. The bigger, stronger, more talented teams from the major conferences just absolutely hammered weaker opponents. That is exactly what is going to happen here. Manhattan went to the NCAA Tournament last year. Good for them. But they lost their three best players from that team – all three-year starters. I think that Florida State is one of the more underrated teams in the country and this is a team that will play with the big boys in the ACC. The Noles rotate three different 7-footers. That’s not something a lot of teams can handle. The Jaspers have exactly one guy taller than 6-6 and he is a former ACC washout. Manhattan wants to press and trap and push the tempo. Unfortunately for them that’s just going to exacerbate their talent deficit.

3-Unit Play. Take #542 San Diego (-6.5) over SE Missouri State (5:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15)

                            2-Unit Play. Take #543 Boise State (-6.5) over LMU (8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15)

This is essentially the same play. SEMS and Loyola Marymount both suck. While Boise State and San Diego are both going to be players within their leagues. San Diego lost yesterday and they are not leaving this mini-tournament without a win. If I think they can win I think they will cover. San Diego has a nice edge in the backcourt and they are a team that is much more comfortable in its style of play and system. Boise State is a mission team. They were one of the bigger disappointments in college hoops last year. But they have a veteran team, loaded with skilled guards, and that will give them an edge over the hosts. Also, Boise will get Derrick Marks back for this game and he may be the best offensive player on the team. The fact that they beat San Diego without him is really impressive. These lines are short. Anyone that saw these teams play yesterday or that has studied these four teams the past few years knows that the talent disparity is more than the numbers suggest.

                              3-Unit Play. Take #524 Ohio (-12) over Appalachian State (2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15)
Ohio has one of the top home court advantages of any mid-major team in the country. They have a host of blowouts over the last five years and they are 22-10 ATS in their last 32 nonconference games. They won 25 games last year and that was the most in the Mid-American Conference. They get to open with a cupcake in Appalachian State. The Mountaineers are a long ways from their glory days. They have a new coach and several new players on a team that went just 9-21 the previous season. The Bobcats get the check-mark today.
