6-Unit NBA Game of the Week #501 Take Denver/Cleveland OVER 216.5 (7 p.m. EST, Monday)

We know the bookies are afraid to post too-high totals this early in the season, but this total should really be in the 220s. Cleveland has been playing like the best offensive team in the league the last four games, including one against these Nuggets where they scored 110 in Denver, and they go again tonight against one of the worst defenses in the league, and Denver comes in on a back-to-back, which will mean their pathetic defense will probably be worse than normal. We think the Cabs have a great chance to go 120+ here, which would mean we would likely cash this ticket even in a blowout scenario. The Nuggets have given up 110 or more in six of their last seven games, and Portland and Sacramento rang up 130 and 131, respectively. Don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that the Cavs have that kind of night here, especially since these teams just played recently. The Boston defense is allowing similar numbers to this Denver team, and Cleveland just scored 122 on them last week. They scored 127 and 118 against Atlanta and New Orleans, respectively, and those teams are much better defensively than Denver. The Nuggets will bring a fast pace in this game, and that plays right into the Cavaliers hands here.

3 Unit Play Take #510 Boston +2 over Phoenix (7:35pm est):

Phoenix has taken advantage of a schedule where they have played 7 of their first 10 games at home thus far. This won't be an easy spot though here for them as they fly across country to play their 3rd game in 4 days as they embark on their longest road trip of the season here.

The Boston Celtics should be focused here after losing a heartbreaker in their last game to Cleveland. The Celtics lost a 19 point lead by allowing 38 fourth quarter points in one of the oddest games of the young NBA season. I like the way the Celtics have been playing of late as before this two game losing streak they have won their previous two contests, beating a solid Chicago Bulls team on the road in one of those games. The Celtics have also went 4-1 this season in games they've been the underdog or favored by a -1 point.

Take Boston here. That's now 8 of the last 9 weeks I've posted a winning week in football for me and my followers as we notched another rock solid winning week on the gridiron this past weekend. It was highlighted by our 5th straight big play winner as Navy (-3) rolled to a 52-19 win making us now a perfect 5-0 this season in big play eight unit selections.

Complimentary CBB Pick for November 17th, 2014

Game: Oakland Golden Grizzlies @ Eastern Michigan Eagles
Time: Monday 11/17 7:00 PM Eastern
Pick: Eastern Michigan -4.5 (-115) at BetOnline

Eastern Michigan won their tuneup while their opponent in this one, the Oakland Grizzlies, suffered a defeat in their opener. I think the huge advantage on this Eastern Michigan will be their imposing size inside, where games are typically won or lost. Mike Samuels (6-foot-11, 285 pounds), Jerome Hunter (6-foot-9, 250 pounds), and Olalekan Ajayi (6-foot-11, 245 pounds) are imposing for any team. Oakland got 39 of their points last game from Petros and McKune inside, but are not going to get easy looks here, and I think in the end it will be the telling story in this one. the Golden Grizzlies last six vs. a team over .600 have them at 0-6 ATS, and Eagles have dominated the Horizon at 8-1 ATS in their last nine. Eastern Michigan in this one.

4-Unit Play. Take #535 Wake Forest -2.5 over Tulane (Monday, November 17th at 8:00 p.m.)
Tulane is a program to keep an eye on with their top 6 scorers returning from a year ago. Their addition to the AAC will be great for the program moving forward. Having said all of that, this is a very tough opening game for the Green Wave.

There is renewed optimism in Wake Forest as Danny Manning takes over the head coaching position. He has some talent to work with but it will take a couple of years to turn the Demon Deacons into a true ACC contender. Having said all of that, Wake is a bad matchup for Tulane. These two teams played last season and the Demon Deacons took Tulane to the woodshed, 72-57.

Wake Forest is 1-0 after a solid victory over UNC-Asheville. This is Tulane’s first game of the season. I like the Demon Deacons by 8 points in this matchup. Tulane will play a solid game but the talent level of the Demon Deacons and the fact they have played one “real” game already will lead them to a victory.
                            Take Wake Forest.
