6-Unit Play. Take #547 Morehead State +10.5 over Cincinnati (Wednesday, November 19th at 7:00 p.m.)
Morehead State almost pulled off the upset in game 1 of the season losing a heartbreaker to UNLV by 1 point. Preseason All-OVC player, Angelo Warner, poured in 21 points vs the Running Rebs on Friday and then he rested as the Eagles defeated Cincinnati Christian 87-79 on Monday.
Here is an excerpt from my write-up of Morehead State over UNLV:
“Morehead State has a lot of talent coming back to a team that finished third in the OVC last season. Sean Woods is a very good coach and he is excited about the team he has coming back. Guard play will be the key for State this season. They have a lot of depth at the guard position led by Angelo Warner, a preseason All-OVC team selection. Warner averaged 17.5 ppg last season and he gives the Eagles veteran leadership as well. He isn’t the only player to be excited about. The Eagles have a plethora of talent including 6 transfers that will be eligible to play immediately. The depth on this team gives them a serious chance to make the NCAA tournament.”
The Eagles proved to be worthy opponents for UNLV. The Running Rebs are extremely talented but very young. The Bearcats are similar to UNLV in that they have talent but the talent hasn’t played together and it will take some time to mesh.
This is a great matchup for the Eagles of Morehead State. They have already played in a very tough environment at UNLV and they passed that test. The Eagles are a very live dog in this matchup and they could win this game outright. Coaches don’t go out and schedule teams like UNLV and Cincinnati early in the year unless they know they have a special team.
Take Morehead State.
The first game we like today is Pepperdine at San Jose State , the Waves looking for a 3-0 start and a second win in one week over a Mountain West Team, Pepperdine comes from a 76-61 win against Cal Lutheran, there is plenty of room for improement as they started icecold with their shooting , only 37% in the beginning, the Waves hope for their Star Stacy Davis who had 18 points and Lamond Murray Jr who had 16 and a double double, we go with the Pepperdine Waves tonight, and so this is our first selection for today:
2* Wake Forest/Arkansas Under 156.5
Our second game we like today is the UNDER in the Arkansas/Wake Forest game, although the Razorbacks scored 98 in their opening match against Alabama State and Wake Forest put up 80 against UNC Ashville i think there is way too much love for the OVER here, surely the Razorback have a realistic chance to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008 this year but it might need a few more games to make adjustments, both Teams can score but Wake Forest has lost 4 of their TOP scores and rebuilding, with Danny Manning they have a new Coach who is experienced enough to get them on track but overall they have lost quality, i am not sure if they can hang with Arkansas tonight, again 156.5 points is way too much for 2 Teams who might be a bit overrated on offense
4 Unit Play. #529 Take Oklahoma -4 over Creighton (8 pm FS1) Hate going against Creighton at home because they have a loyal fan base that shows up to games on a consistent basis. But eventually talent wins out and Creighton does not have any whereas Oklahoma has a bunch of talent. Creighton fed off of their all-American the last 4 years and their role players now must do things they are not comfortable doing.
4 Unit Play. #532 Take Wisconsin -15 over Green Bay (9 pm BTN) Green Bay gave Wisconsin quite a battle last year at the Resch Center and you can bet the Wisconsin coaches are reminding them of this all week long. Green Bay has a player in Keifer Sykes who tore apart Wisconsin last year but I just do not see that happening at the Kohl Center. The Phoenix were a two headed monster last year Alec Brown but he graduated and thus this team is not as effective. Green Bay will win the Horizon League but they are not ready to stay with the best Big 10 team on their home floor. Bo Ryan plays his starters most of the game even in blowout and that has allowed Wisconsin to go 35-16 ATS (1 push) in their last 52 nonconference games.
4 Unit Play. #534 Take Arkansas -12.5 over Wake Forest (9 pm SEC Network) The Hogs should be able to make the NCAA Tournament this season and Wake Forest has been a bottom feeder team for quite some time. They have an upgrade in coach but it is still the same crappy players and thus Wake Forest will get blown out tonight. Arkansas can win at home that has already been proven and this is a game they will win big.
4 Unit Play. #536 Take Utah State -3 over Santa Clara (9 pm) Apparently Utah State is not as bad as most people thought they would be! Sometimes getting rid of underachieving seniors is a good thing and this team is always a tough out in Logan.
4 Unit Play. #538 Take Arizona -15.5 over UC Irvine (9 pm PAC-12 Network) This selection is very similar to Wisconsin. UC Irvine is a good mid-major team but Arizona is loaded with talent and a top five team playing at home will pull away late and win this game by 20+ points.
