7-Unit Play. Take #515 Virginia Tech (+10) over Florida State (7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6)
I don’t think that the Seminoles should be favored by this many points over anyone in the ACC! This is not one of FSU’s best teams. They are playing without their best player in Aaron Thomas and have struggled this year. Florida State is just 3-7 ATS in its last 10 games and they are coming off a bad loss to Mississippi State. They also barely beat teams like Stetson and Charleston Southern this year. Virginia Tech is in the first year of new coach Buzz Williams’ system. His teams always play hard. They almost pulled an upset over Syracuse over the weekend and they nearly won at Penn State as an 8.5-point underdog this year. They are 2-1 ATS in their last three games in the underdog role. I think that this is going to be another low-scoring game for both teams. I don’t see either team breaking 65 points. It will be close and the points will hold up. This is a much-improved Hokies team but neither the books or the betting public are giving them any respect. I will stay on the sharp side with this one and take the points. Play this one quickly because I think that this line is going to come down and I’ve already seen it start to drop at some books.
