Each of these teams enters off a Saturday loss. Yet, those defeats were to very dichotomous opponents. The Longhorns got blown out in the 2nd half by a Kansas team, who proved once again that the Big 12 title still goes through Lawrence. It was the 3rd loss in 5 games for the Longhorns, who have now lost by 21 to Oklahoma, 11 to Oklahoma St. and 13 to Kansas. Can you say “overrated?” Tonight, it will be the power and strength of the Longhorns on display against the speed and agility of Iowa St. Combined with the strong home court of Hilton Coliseum, I favor the home-standing Cyclones. Iowa St. was caught by surprise at Lubbock on Saturday. It resulted in a 78-73 loss as double digit favorite. Playing in Hilton Coliseum has a whole different vibe for this team. For, it is here that the Cyclones are 57-4 SU 3+Y, including a perfect 10-0 SU this season with all but one victory by 5 or more points. Again this season, 5th year HC Hoiberg, the “Mayor of Ames,” has an incredible offensive team. They average 80 PPG on 48% shooting and 35% from the arc with 8 triples per game. Most impressive is positives in rebound margin, TO margin and a 17.9/11.4 A/TO margin, featuring more assists than any team in the country. Stay at home with the Cyclones tonight, as they blow away the Longhorns in another magical performance on the strong home boards of Hilton Coliseum.
OAKLAND (+3) over Cleveland State
7 p.m. ET
Revenge for the Oakland Grizzlies tonight after losing at Cleveland State 65-61 3 weeks ago. Oakland is tough at home going 6-0 ATS on their home floor the last six and they always play the Vikings tough as four of last five meetings between these Horizon League foes have been decided by 5 points or less. Another close one tonight but the Grizzlies get it
