Analysis: I’m backing the Pirates on Saturday. Vance Worley had a decent season in 2014 with an 8-4 record and 2.85 ERA. Worley allowed four runs and 16 hits in 14.1 innings against Milwaukee last year. The Brewers had a virus spread through their clubhouse in spring training causing some players to become ill and the team is playing as if it hasn’t recovered. Milwaukee is 0-4 after a 6-2 loss on Friday when the Brewers left 13 men on base. Jimmy Nelson was 2-9 last year including 1-6 with a 5.83 ERA at home. Nelson also got knocked around in spring training finishing with a 6.23 ERA. Dating to last year, the Pirates are 5-0 in Worley’s last five starts and the Brewers are 0-5 in Nelson’s last five outings. I’m backing the Pirates, my Hammer release on Saturday. Thanks & GL!
