I am very high on Rays SP Smyly. He has excellent command and rarely walks anyone. He has been extremely sharp of late & add on the fact that these Red Sox have struggled vs LH pitching this season & have been much more potent vs RH pitching and I think this game sets up really nice for the Rays. Boston SP Porcello has had command issues this season & in general during his career. I absolutely see a SP edge for the Rays tonight & fully expect Smyly to limit this Boston offense who's struggled vs lefties. The Rays bullpen has been solid of late, after a hideous start, while this Red Sox bullpen continues to struggle bad. Bottom line for me, is that I see a definite LIVE DOG here with the Rays based on all the above and I am all over the TAMPA BAY RAYS in this spot.

Detailed Write Up:

It's clear in this series that there are several mismatches favoring both teams' offenses. Washington's offense is now playing much better with their small ball lineup working very well with Pierce at the PF position and Porter on the court as well. Possibly also thanks to this, Washington is now shooting well from the perimeter as well. Atlanta's defense is proving to be too finesse to guard them and a clear sign of that is the number of contested and uncontested shots from Washington: 16-42 (38%) FG on contested and 22-49 (44.9%) FG on uncontested shots, which means that the Wizards had more uncontested than contested shots!

However, what surprised me the most on Game 1 was the difference between Atlanta's offense in the first half and in the second half.

"I think in the first half, we were able to get in the paint" said Kyle Korver who finished with 13 points but was just 5-for-15 from the floor. "We really got into the paint. We hit some jump shots too, but we were in the paint first. As the game went on, we didn't get into the paint as well as we did before. We have to watch the film and try to figure that out. We definitely missed some good looks too. We still had some good looks in the second half that we just have to make. I thought we did a better job in the first half of getting into the paint."

The Hawks managed to score well near the basket in the first half, but they struggled in the second half where they just couldn't make shots at all. As usual, they had good ball movement, they created good looks, but they missed almost all of them. The Hawks ended with 16-50 (32%) FG on uncontested shots, with Korver, Millsap and Horford shooting a combined of 4-21 FG! I believe that they will continue creating good looks against Washington like they did it in the regular season as well, however they will shoot better than they did on Game 1. With both teams having edges on offense, I expect a high scoring contest and so, I'll be taking the Over in here in a Double Dime Play! As I expect a clear bounce back for the Hawks today, I'll be taking Atlanta in here as well in a Single Dime Play.

I situation I like to use in the MLB is when a team just lost after a long winning streak, fade them the next game. Most people think they will bounce back after a rare loss, but usually it's more of a let down spot. I expect Wandy to give a great performance tonight as he used to pitch for the Astros.
