910 LOS -1.5 (+115) BetOnline vs 909 COLAnalysis: The Rockies right now are just down right terrible..They are on a massive losing streak and facing LA in LA tonight won;t help them much..The Dodgers although limited have been playing pretty well as of laste. The Rockies will put Bettis on the mound tonight and his walk to strikeout ratio is bad overall..Anderson is 2-1 on the year and he looks to get his third win here tonight...Rockies have really struggled to get this offense rolling only scoring 10 runs in 5 games. For the most part theyare putting 1 or 2 runs across a game. That's not going to cut it here tonight...The streak for the Rockies will end, but i just think it's going to be at home in a better spot. Dodgers have won 5 of 6 and the offense has looked pretty good overall. They scored 45 runs in just 6 games and they are coming off a 5-4 loss with the Marlins..Nice spot here to bounceback Vs. a inexperienced pitcher tonight in Bettis..Bettis ERA is just around 6.40 and his WHIP is 1.83..We may just see a ton of baserunners here tonight in LA for the Dodgers..I really like this RL here and we can get some +$ with the better team all around. 8-Unit Play. Take #917 Toronto (-105) over Houston (8 p.m., Thursday, May 14) The reason I like this play so much is that it doesn’t make a ton of sense. I know that sounds strange. But it is actually good to be a bit counterintuitive sometimes. It’s a key to gambling success, actually. And when I saw this line the first thing that jumped out at me was, why are the Blue Jays favored? This game opened as a -108/-102 split. It has since moved to essentially -105 on both sides. So it’s an even game. But that doesn’t really answer the question: why is this line this way at all?
The Astros have been a cash cow and a darling team, with the ink barely dry on their 11-game winning streak near the end of April. The Blue Jays just got raked in a series loss at Baltimore and they stink on the road. They are also throwing out one of the worst pitchers in the Majors in Drew Hutchinson. He’s sporting an ERA of nearly 7.00 and his ERA is nearly 9.00 in his last three starts. Hutchinson’s road ERA is nearly 10.00 and let’s not forget that the last time he pitched in Houston he didn’t make it out of the fourth inning. So now that you’re excited about Hutchinson, the question still remains? Why are the Jays favored at some books and even at the others? I think the answer is, obviously, because the Jays are going to win here. I think that there is going to be a big fat plate of regression for everyone involved in this game and it is going to lead to a 6-4 Jays win. Hutchinson is going to get better. He has a career ERA in the mid-4’s (discounting this past month) so he is going to get better. He’s not hurt. His velocity is fine. His BABIP is shockingly high and can only come down. And he is facing a Houston lineup that is hitting just .231 against right-handed pitching this year. That’s another thing that is going to regress: the Astros. This Houston team is not that good. Their deficiencies have been masked by the fact that they play in the A.L. West, which is BY FAR the worst division in baseball. Most of Houston’s wins have come against the other dregs in their division. But now they are stepping up and going against a Toronto team that’s been battling in the loaded East.
The Blue Jays have the No. 1 scoring offense in baseball and have scored the most runs in baseball against righties. Nothing that Roberto Hernandez has done this year would make me think he’s going to roll over the Jays lineup. And I think they are going to get homer happy in the friendly confines of Minute Maid Park. Houston has lost six of its last nine games and they have been outscored 20-43 in those contests. They are just 32-65 in their last 97 games against teams from the A.L. East and they are just 23-50 at home against a team with a losing road record. There aren’t a lot of trends that are favorable to the Jays. But they have gone 6-1 after their last seven losses and they have won six of Hutchinson’s last eight starts (somehow). Yesterday Houston’s lineup featured five guys hitting .200 or below and, as mentioned, Toronto has the top scoring team in the A.L. I’ll follow the number on this one and I’ll go with the Jays.
