Alfredo Simon. He's the reason there is value in this game and he's the reason I am playing Detroit. Simon is 4-2 with a 3.04 era this season and he is 2-0 with a 1.25 era at home. He has only had one bad start this year and he has allowed 2 earned runs or fewer in 5 out of 8 starts. Houston counters with McHugh who has a 5-1 record on the year. However, he is just 1-1 over his last three starts with a 5.21 era. The Astros have been really good on the road this year and that is the reason this line is so low. Having said that, I would not care where these two teams played, I would always take Simon over McHugh at a pick'em at this point in the season. Value, Value, Value

The White Sox were riding a 6-game winning streak until the Indians beat them 3 out of 4 games but again the White Sox remember the butt kicking they received by the Twins their last game 13-3 and the Twins have outscored them 18-6 in two games. If White Sox starter Jeff Samardzija can have another quality start like he did against Oakland then I see the White Sox taking Game #1 of this weekend series. Samardzija last 3 starts he is 2-0 (Chicago 2-1) with an ERA of 4.29 and tonight I hope Samardzija gets some early run support. Twins throw out tonight Phil Hughes and Hughes started off the season horrendous but lately he has been sharp and hitting all of his pitches. Phil Hughes is just below .500 lifetime against the White Sox, going 4-5 with a 3.12 ERA in 16 games and tonight he will stay under .500. The White Sox will need to put some pressure on Hughes and make him work from the stretch early and again the Six will need to score first if the want to win this game. The Twins are 1-4 in Phil Hughes' last 5 road starts and the White Sox are 5-1 in their last 6 home games against a team with a winning record.

Take #927 Baltimore Orioles -115 over Miami Marlins (7:10 PM, Friday, May 22nd) The Baltimore Orioles will look to extend the Marlins losing streak to 8 games when the two teams meet tonight at Marlins Park in Miami. Marlins GM Dan Jennings fired manager Mike Redmond early in the week and decided that it would be a good idea for him to take over as the skipper. The results have been awful thus far as Jennings is now 0-3 in his managerial career. The Orioles come into the interleague contest winners of three of four, including a 5-4 win over Seattle on Thursday afternoon. The O’s will send Ubaldo Jimenez to the hill on Friday and he’s actually been way better than anyone could have expected thus far, posting a 3-3 record with a very good 2.43 ERA. The Marlins will counter with Henderson Alvarez, who has been terrible so far here in 2015, posting a 0-3 record with a 6.23 ERA. He will be making his second start since coming off the DL with a shoulder issue and if his first outing was any indication, maybe he’s not totally healed. Alvarez allowed 6 runs and 9 hits in just 5 1/3 innings to the Braves on Sunday in his return from the DL. The Orioles, despite their losing record have actually been pretty good in the spot they are in here tonight against the Marlins. They are 9-3 in their last 12 interleague games when listed at pick or favorite and are a perfect 4-0 when Jimenez starts a game against a team with a losing record.

The Marlins, on the other hand, haven’t really been good in any spot in the past three weeks and tonight should be no different. They are 1-12 in their last 13 games against teams with a losing record and they are 0-8 in their last 8 games at Marlins Park. Throw in the fact that the Marlins are a putrid 7-24 in their last 31 games when facing a pitcher with a WHIP lower than 1.15 and we’ll take the Orioles at the pick em’ price to get the win and send Miami to their eighth straight loss, bringing us a winner in our Interleague Game of the Month!!
