The Kansas City Royals will look for a series win over the Pittsburgh Pirates when the two teams close out their three game set at Kauffman Stadium tonight in Kansas City. Edinson Volquez, who has been good for the Royals, will get the start for them tonight. He has posted an 8-5 record with a 3.28 ERA in 19 starts here in 2015 and he' a perfect 2-0 against Pittsburgh in his career. The Royals are going to need a strong outing from Volquez this evening as their taxed bull pen could really use a break. The pen has pitched 12.2 innings over the last two games after Yordano Ventura went just four innings on Monday night and Jason Vargas left last night in the second inning with an elbow injury. Volquez will be opposed by Charlie Morton, who has come back down to earth a bit after starting strong in his return from the DL. He has posted a 6-3 record with a 4.34 ERA this season but he hasn't won in his last three starts where he has allowed 14 hits in 18 innings while allowing as many walks as he has strikeouts (10). He has also struggled on the road this season, going just 2-2 with an ERA of 8.20 in four starts away from PNC Park. The Royals, who are now 20 games over the .500 mark, have been excellent in the spot we find them in here tonight. They have gone 12-2 in their last 14 home games where they were listed as a favorite of -110 to -150 and they are 15-5 in their last 20 games overall when they are the favorite. They are also 11-3 in their last 14 interleague home games when facing a righty and they have gone 11-3 in their last 14 games when Volquez gets the start. The Pirates, who have stumbled out of the second half gate to a 1-5 record, have really struggled in the spot they are in here tonight as they are just 10-22 in their last 32 games on the road when they are listed as an underdog and they have gone just 3-7 in Morton's last 10 interleague starts dating back to 2013. Throw in the fact that the Royals are 4-1 in the last five between these two in KC and we'll lay the price with them tonight to get the win and take the series from the Pirates.

The Houston Astros will look to send the Boston Red Sox to their seventh straight loss when the two teams meet tonight at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Boston has been awful out of the all-star break, going 0-5 while scoring just seven runs while the Astros have been the exact opposite, winning three of four. Collin McHugh, who has been good for the Astros will get the start for them tonight. He has posted a 10-5 record with a 4.35 ERA and he's allowed three runs or less in each of his last six starts. McHugh will be opposed by Joe Kelly, who has been awful this season for Boston. Kelly was called up from AAA Pawtucket to make the start tonight and he had posted a 2-5 record with a 5.67 ERA in 14 starts and he's struggled in limited work against the Astros, allowing seven runs, nine hits and six walks in just 5.1 innings pitched. The Astros, who trail the Angels by two games in the AL West, have been very good in the spot they are in here tonight. They have posted a 23-8 record in their last 31 home games and they have gone 8-1 in McHugh's last nine home starts where he was listed as a favorite of -110 to -150. The Red Sox, on the other hand, have been awful in the situation we find them in here this evening as they are just 1-5 in Kelly's last six road starts and they have gone 0-5 in their last five games when they were listed as an underdog on the road. Throw in the fact that the Astros are 18-5 in their last 23 home games when facing a right handed starter and we'll lay the price with them at home tonight to get the win over the reeling Red Sox and give us our fourth straight 7 Unit Winner in a row!!

Pirates last night left base runners on base all night but tonight I see a high scoring game in KC. Pirates starter Charlie Morton has had some problems as of late and in his last 3 starts his ERA is 4.50 but his road ERA is a sky high 8.20 so look for the Royals to hit him hard early. Pittsburgh is 8-2 O/U after scoring 2 runs or less in their last game and the Bucks are 8-2 O/U against a team with a winning record. The Kansas City Royals are 5-0 O/U as a home favorite and the Royals are 5-1 O/U as a favorite. Last 6 meetings between these two teams in Kansas City 5 of them have gone over and tonight the bats from both teams will score some runs.

I really like the Astros today! They won again last night and this is one of the best teams in baseball. The Red Sox are one of the weakest teams in the A.L. but the books have not started to price them like it. This line should be around -170. The Red Sox haven't won a game since before the All Star Break (0-5) and they look terrible. They have lost three times in the last two days. Houston won big on Sunday over their rivals, the Rangers, and they took the series opener. Now they are backing powerful righty Colin McHugh and he has been one of their better starters this year. The Red Sox are going with Joe Kelly. He has not adjusted well to the A.L. and he has troubles staying in the strike zone. These two teams are going in opposite directions. This one is an easy call and I suggest jumping on this one quickly as this number is only going to go up.

I like the value on the runline with the weak Phillies today. I think this is a game they have a great chance to win outright. But if they don't I think this is a low-scoring game and one run will probably be the difference one way or another. The Phillies fans will be excited today for another chance to see young Adam Morgan. The young lefty has just a 3.91 ERA in his appearances this year and he will take advantage of playing against an offense tired from a night game last night. Tampa Bay has played eight straight games under or at the total and their offense is really struggling. I like the Phillies to get the job done in this one.
