Last start at Milwaukee he allowed five runs on eight hits in a season-low four innings. That dropped his record to 1-4 and raised his ERA to 3.92 in his last seven starts.
Cole's record in his first 20 starts: 14-4 with a 2.24 ERA.
John Lackey at home? Talk about the closest thing to a sure thing.
1.89 ERA in 14 home starts this year.
St. Louis is 17-3 SU in his home starts since they got him from Boston.
His last three starts at home against the Bucs: 1.37 ERA.
But Lackey's just been pitching great everywhere: 2 runs or less allowed in 13 of his last 15 starts.
St. Louis won yesterday 4-1 after losing Friday 9-3. The Cards have won 19 of the last 24 meeting at Busch.
The Pirates are 1-5 in their last six. They're hitting just .233 in them. They've struck out 54 times in those six games. That's 9 per game on average.
Pittsburgh has give Cole just 13 runs of support in his last seven starts. With the way the Bucs are hitting, you can't expect that to change.
Call it the Cards 3-2.
