We roll with San Diego here against San Francisco as the Padres fell short 2-4 yesterday and look to bounce-back today with Cashner. Cashner has pitched against San Fran twice this year and has fallen short both times as he has gone 11.2 innings and 8 earned runs as he has struggled against the Giants. Note in his last start he gave up 5 earned runs in his last start against the Giants lasting 5 innings as his team fell short 1-9 in an ugly loss. Now, he faces the same pitcher who he lost to in Peavy who ended up winning that game 9-1. So, there is quite a bit of revenge here for Cashner who immediately bounced back from the Giants loss as he gave up 3 earned runs in 7 innings of work.

Note the total is also set at 7 as well which goes to show that this is likely to be a pitcher’s duel as well. Note that Peavy has put together back to back quality starts as he has given up 3 earned runs in 13 innings, but it is unlikely that Peavy puts together 3 straight quality starts against a Padres team as well looking for revenge from a 1-9 loss the last time they faced Peavy. In fact, Peavy has not shown that he can produce 3 straight quality starts in quite some time. Let’s roll with Cashner, good public fade, Padres on the bounce-back, Cashner with double-revenge and Peavy on a classic let down as well.
