CFB STEAMROLLER GAME OF THE WEEK

Georgia Southern (-6) at LA Monroe 7:00 ET



Georgia Southern traveled to Moscow, Idaho last week where they demolished the Vandals in the Kibbie Dome by a count of 44-20 as our CFB BLOWOUT OF THE WEEK. The game was not as close as the final score, if you consider the fact that the Eagles won the overland battle 441-111. This is a team who is on a mission. Georgia Southern, a program with multiple national championships in lower classes, was denied a Bowl last season (by an archaic NCAA rule) despite winning the Sun Belt conference and posting a 9-3 SU record. Starting QB Ellison was suspended for Georgia Southern’s first game of the year at WVU. Final score: WVU 44-0 with Ellison’s replacement, Upshaw, completing twice as many passes to the opposing Mounties as to his own Eagles. The next 3 games have seen GS return to their dominating overland form in whipping out same class competition, W. Michigan 43-17, the Citadel 48-13 and Idaho 44-20. Now, they travel again to Monroe, where they will face a team for whom they will have respect. As 14 point home favorite last year, the Eagles won only 22-16, despite a 333-19 overland edge. It is nearly impossible to not cover with that type of overland dominance.

This week, LA Monroe takes the field, after being battered and bruised by Alabama in a 34-0 defeat. Getting off the mat to face this rushing attack is improbable, especially noting that they have lost their 2 best receivers (Turner and Ceaser). With a limited aerial attack and an offense that rushes for just 85/2.7 and a defensive front allowing 4.6 YPR, is there any way they can prevent the highly focused Eagles from yet another STEAMROLLER victory? I don’t think so.

CFB 75 Dimes HIGH ROLLER GAME OF THE YEAR

TODAY’S WINNER: MISSISSIPPI ST. +7

Mississippi St defense is 6th in the Nation when it comes to 3rd downs. They have limited opponents to just 14.8 points this year. Mississippi St. Offense is money, and should have no problem getting around a weak secondary. Mississippi St. is 4-1 ATS this year, while Texas A&M is 12-18 ATS. This game
will be low scoring, and I like Mississippi to win by 10 points.



BOXING 100 DIME FIGHT OF THE MONTH WISEGUY PLAY

Lucas is a power puncher, who punishes his opponents. Viktor Postol is a great fighter, but has no power in his punch. Viktor has a tight defense, but fights stiff. Viktor will have problems trying to defend the left hook. Viktor will struggle since he fights from the mid range. Lucas pulls the victory here.

Illinois is averaging 34 points, while Nebraska is averaging 36 points per game. Nebraska has cashed in 3-1 on the over this year. Nebraska Defense will be a little light, with both Linebackers, and their DE out with Injuries. Illinois should have the advantage in putting up some major points in this game. The algorithms are set between 61-68 points. Lay the money on the over.

10 Unit Play. #148 Take Oklahoma State Cowboys over Kansas State Wildcats (Saturday 4 pm FS1) We will come right back with the Cowboys in this game and feel they will be more relaxed than they were last week playing in Austin. We pushed with the Pokes in a game we should have won as the Longhorns offense was completely shut down in the second half. But key turnovers kept Texas in that game and we had to settle for a push. After a bad beat (push) I always like to use the same team against in the following week as things have a way of evening themselves out. The Wildcats have reverted back to Bill Snyder form in scheduling cupcakes during the nonconference portion of the season and they have not really looked that impressive in those games. They are coming off a bye but I do not believe they are ready for Big 12 play. They already share a common opponent in UTSA with the Pokes beating them by 55 points compared to a 27 point victory by the Wildcats. Oklahoma State also has revenge on their minds losing by 34 points last year in Manhattan but the home team has won 8 of the last 9 meetings. I am a big fan of DC Glenn Spencer and feel he will come up with a solid gameplan to stifle this questionable Wildcats offense. Oklahoma State takes better care of the football on Saturday and wins this game by double digits.
