POINTSPREAD PROGNOSIS
Ohio at N. Illinois (-13-) 7:30 ET ESPNU
The Ohio Bobcats travel to Huskie Stadium in DeKalb, Illinois tonight to face the N. Illinois Huskies. Last week’s home victory vs. Ball St. brings the Bobcats into this game at 7-4 SU with Bowl qualification in hand. It is a much bigger deal for 5-time divisional champion, N. Illinois, who needs this victory to again win the MAC West and face Bowling Green in the Title game. As these teams are in opposite divisions, they seldom play each other. Last year, however, NIU won and covered at Ohio (21-14).
The most salient feature of the Ohio U log is their performance, both on the road and against the superior teams in the MAC. The Bobcats were a perfect 4-0 SU against inferior opposition. But, when stepping up to play quality teams on the road, they lost (62-24) at Bowling Green and (41-17) at Buffalo. Then, there is the little matter of the (49-14) loss to Michigan St. at home. With Bowl bid in hand, it would be no surprise if the Bobcat defense, which allowed over 50 PPG to those 3 superior conference opponents, once again got burned.
For NIU, it has been next man up. They lost starting QB Hare in late October. Yet, behind first year starter QB Graham, they have not missed a beat. In fact, the Huskies enter today’s play on a 6-0 SU ATS run. On October 3rd, playing their 3rdconsecutive road game (after games against the rugged defenses of Ohio St. and Boston College), NIU went to C. Michigan. They had a (-4) net TO margin in that game and lost (29-19) to their conference nemesis. Since that time, they have gone 6-0 SU ATS, including victories in 2 of the last 3 weeks against division rivals, Toledo and W. Michigan. Having won the division 5 consecutive years, simply do not expect any slip ups from the Huskies tonight! They have a perfectly balanced 200 CLUB offense, which runs and passes for identical marks of 225 YPG. Look for them to take advantage of an Ohio U defense that has struggled when stepping up in class.
This is the 5th and final Part V of our Midweek Snacks in the MAC. They went 4-0 ATS in the previous 2 weeks.
I invite you to put the college football ODDS in your favor and join me with my college football PICK on NIU (-13-), as they devour the Ohio U Bobcat, leading us to a 5th consecutive SNACK IN THE MAC WINNER.
