NFL STEAMROLLER GAME OF THE WEEK … Chicago Bears (-7-)
San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears (-7-) 1:00 EST

As written before on these pages, the Bears are arguably the most improved team in the NFL this season, with HC Fox and his OC Gase focusing the Bears’ offense on a strong running game. In addition, QB Cutler has improved his decision making with the guidance of Gase. This week, you can add the focus of his DC Fangio who will have his minions playing with intensity after he was fired by the 49ers at the end of last season. After starting the season 0-3 SU ATS (Green Bay, Arizona, and Seattle), the Bears have since gone 5-3 SU, 6-2 ATS with losses at only Minnesota and Denver. In other words, when not facing the elite of the league, they have played extraordinarily well. They have had 11 days to come down from the upset victory at Green Bay last week, and will be primed to take advantage of a San Francisco team who can best be described as roadkill. The 49ers enter on a recent road slide of 0-7 SU, 1-6 ATS in which they have been outscored by an average of 35-14 and outgained by an average of 464-288. Their offensive performances in the last five games have resulted in a total of just 52 points, little better than 10 PPG. Four of their five road losses this year have been by 16 or more points. With the Bears’ skill position players now at full health and Chicago focusing on their ground game, it will be no surprise to this bureau if they STEAMROLL the 49ers into submission, having their way with a defensive front that allows opponents to run an average of 30 times per game for 121 RY. In their first favorite role of the season, look for the Bears to record a dominant victory.

      WAYNE ROOT

      MILL--San Diego +
      -----------------
      No Limit--Cleveland +
      -----------------
      Perfect Play--St. Louis +
The leading rusher for Arizona is out due to an injury. Chris Johnson is rumored to have a broken leg. His backup, Andre Ellington is also out. So much for a Cardinals rushing attack. The Cardinals have struggled playing in St Louis. Arizona won 12-6 at St. Louis last season after losing their two previous visits there. Nick Foles needs to put on a show. He played last week and was alright completing 30 of 46 passes against a good Cincinnati defense. Foles had his best game of the year in the Rams' 24-22 victory at Arizona on Oct. 4, throwing for three TDs. Todd Gurley had 146 yards of rushing in that game. This is a game that St Louis should win at home to keep the fan support strong. It's a division match up and advantage goes to the Rams.
      -----------------
Inner Circle--Minnesota + ***NFC Upset of Month
Seattle's Jimmy Graham is a huge loss to the Seahawks. They have zero offensive weapons to start with and his injury last week was devastating. Seattle is off a Steelers win and moved above .500 for the first time and into a tie with Atlanta for the NFC's second wild-card spot. But to win regular season games, it takes scoring. They're defense can carry them just so far and usually, defense is fueled by the crowd noise of which they won't have today. RB Marshawn Lynch is also injured for Seattle. For the Vikings, Adrian Peterson has 329 yards in three career games against the Seahawks so look for his number to get called and watch the Vikes chew up the clock. Against Atlanta last week, the Vikings won their sixth in seven games to reclaim sole possession of first place in the NFC North. The Vikings defense returned to form against Atlanta matching a season low in points allowed and should easily duplicate that effort against Russell Wilson led offense. The Upset of the Month should have a portion of your wager bet on the money line.
      -------------
Pinnacle--New Orleans + ***NFL Shocker of Year

Exactly one year ago, Carolina came to New Orleans and put a 41-10 thumping on the Saints ending a 6 game losing streak. Since then, they have won 14 consecutive games. The Saints will attempt to stop that streak. This is a division game and will be played accordingly. Laying this many points on the road is a very difficult task for this situation. The Panthers usually plays to the strength of their competition and is not known for blowing out teams. Add in the Saints new defensive coordinator, Dennis Allen, and you will see a very different team defense. Firing Rob Ryan was way over due. We all have witnessed the Panthers 11 wins so not much to add to that story. The key will certainly be the different looks that the Saints defense shows to Cam Newton. Getting a touchdown from the oddsmakers, playing at home and having Drew Bree's throwing for you will have the betting public in "shock" wondering what happened.

                    Hondo

                    Hondo’s best of the Best

Hondo labored again in the compulsories, struggling to a 6-10 record, but crushed it in the Best Bets as he surged to the summit by going 3-0 while all around him were wilting under the intense pressure.

Giants over Jets: A huge showdown as Mediocre takes on Ordinary at the Just OK Corral. The Giants clearly have more on the line, given their second-rate status in the NFC East. Then there’s co-owner Steve Tisch putting Tom Coughlin on notice, which has sparked an inspirational rallying cry for Big Blue this week: Win one for Tommy TightButt!

Bears over 49ers: Online sales on Brawling Black Friday reportedly were down this year, while cyber sales were up. At this point, there’s really no need to go out to shop unless you are looking for a fistfight.

Bengals over Browns: Donald Trump had to go into denial mode again after mocking a New York Times reporter’s physical disability. It’s too bad Trump couldn’t have run against FDR. Think of all the fun zingers El Donaldo could have unloaded on him.

Titans over Jaguars: Al Sharpton warned more than 100 black ministers not to meet with Trump on Monday because he felt they were being used for a shameless photo-op. The Reverend feels strongly they should save themselves for when he wants to use them in his shameless photo-ops.

Texans over Bills: From Obama’s pregame speech on the climate summit in Paris: “What a powerful rebuke to the terrorists it will be, when the world stands as one …” Apparently, the two terrorists in California weren’t sufficiently rebuked. Then again, with the President having declared ISIS is “contained” and “al Qaeda is on the run,” is it still necessary to rebuke the terrorists?

Dolphins over Ravens: Obama told the climate summit the U.S. is “the second largest emitter” of greenhouse gasses, failing to mention he is the No. 1 emitter of White House gasses.

Panthers over Saints: From BarkingMut of SoBe, where Art Basel has the celebrity dogs panting for paintings: Emails reveal aides of Hillary Clinton said she appeared to be “confused” for months after suffering a concussion three years ago. That’s the same condition afflicting tens of millions of her supporters, who, according to polls, will vote for her despite all of her proven prevarications and frequent failures as Secretary of State.

Vikings over Seahawks: People having sex with horses reportedly is on the rise in Switzerland. Apparently, that’s when the Swiss do their best yodeling.

Cardinals over Rams: After the Rams were thumped by the Bengwads, coach Jeff Fisher bristled at the thought his team had quit, “Anyone who implies it’s an effort issue can kiss my ass.” That narrows it down to a talent issue or coaching issue. Maybe Fisher can further clarify the situation after Sunday’s thumping by the Cards.

Buccaneers over Falcons: It’s always nice to bet against Matty Ice.
                    Modal Trigger
                    David Letterman

Broncos over Chargers: David Letterman donated a batch of memorabilia from his talk show to Ball State for something called the “David Letterman Experience.” However, Hondo hears his alma mater passed on the Late Show Intern Love Couch, finding it to be a bit too crusty.

Raiders over Chiefs: Poland announced this week it will not extradite convicted sex offender Roman Polanski to the U.S., which should provide alleged amateur pharmacist Bill Cosby a possible refuge if needed.

Patriots over Eagles: Bird watchers have been flocking to Prospect Park to get a glimpse of the rare male painted bunting. How rare is it? Ornithologists say it shows up about as often as a Philadelphia Eagle on game day.

Referee Pete Morelli’s crew, which reportedly had numerous screwups in the Cards-49ers game, has been removed from the Sunday night game and reassigned to Eagles-Pats. Word is Roger Goodell made the move because he enjoys watching his Deflategate nemesis, Tom Brady, act like a whining wuss when calls don’t go his way.

Steelers over Colts: It was downright accommodating of SI.com’s Peter King to put a spit-shine on the NFL’s concussion policy by pointing out how well it worked with Ben Roethlisberger during Sunday’s Steelers-Seahawks game. It was just what the doctor ordered in the wake of the league taking a big hit for St. Louis QB Case Keenum being allowed to play through a concussion in Week 11.

Speaking of the Steelers, is it asking too much for somebody in their Silk Curtain secondary to make a tackle to prevent a cover-killing 5-yard catch, 75-yard TD run by Angry Doug Baldwin in the final minutes? Angry Hondo would have greatly appreciated it.

Redskins over Cowboys: With Romo done, the Cowboys are back to Casseling. Checkmate!

And finally, Mr. Aitch is calling on HondoNation to extend a hearty welcome to his Second-But-Equal Heir’s Second-But-Equal Heiress — Sarah Paige, a lanky 21-inch, 7-pound, 3-ounce beauty who vacated the cozy confines and made a grand entrance Tuesday.

                    Best bets: Panthers, Vikings, Steelers.

                    Thursday: Packers [W]
