This UCLA team is still not getting the respect that it deserves. The Bruins just beat Gonzaga as a big underdog over the weekend and they have won four straight games. That also includes a 10-point win over Kentucky as a dog. UCLA is now 3-1 ATS in its last four games and this team keeps improving. Lafayette is a small team from the Sun Belt and they have not covered a spread yet this year (0-4 ATS). This team just lost by 12 points at rival Louisiana Tech while giving up 91 points. Lafayette also gave up 105 points to Alabama this year and 93 points to Miami. They are one of the worst defensive teams in the country and UCLA should be able to score whenever it wants. This Bruins team is really on a roll and I do not see them slowing down here one bit. UCLA is 40-19 ATS in its last 59 home games against a team that has a losing record. The Cajuns are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games and this team will not be up to the task against UCLA tonight. This is the start of a West Coast road trip for the Louisiana kids and I think that they will be overwhelmed in Pauley Pavilion tonight. Lay the points now because I expect this spread to be 13.5 or 14 by tip off.

3-Unit Play. Take 'Over' 135.0 Northern Kentucky at Michigan (7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15)
I think it is really unlikely that Michigan is going to play an opponent that only manages 33 points again tonight. The Wolverines really aren't that great of a defensive team so their numbers from the last game are more a reflection of just how awful. Delaware State is (the Hornets shot 12-for-50 from the field and 4-for-21 from 3-point range). Michigan had a really nice shooting game while scoring 80 points, but it wasn't anything otherworldly that would make me think they won't be even better tonight. They made 11 threes (40.7 percent shooting) and only went 5-for-10 from the free throw line. I expect both of those totals to be higher today. The Wolverines have played four teams rated No. 230 or worse and they have scored 88, 102, 82 and 80 points in those game, an average of 88 per game. Northern Kentucky has faced two Top 25 teams (West Virginia and Xavier) and they gave up 107 and 78 points in those two contests. They've only been held below 60 points one time this year and both teams combine to average over 140 points per game. If Michigan is going to cover a 21-point spread that means they are going to have to get to 80 points. And if they do I still feel confident that Northern Kentucky can get to at least 55. If Michigan doesn't cover, I think it will be because NKU shoots the ball well and plays in the mid-to-high 60's. And regardless I can't see Michigan being held below 70 points in this one. I don't see this one being a game where Michigan is in the 60's and NKU in the 40's so I'll play 'over' here.
1-Unit Play. Take #718 Texas (-20) over Appalachian State (7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15)
This is a clear and obvious letdown spot for the Longhorns after their massive win over North Carolina over the weekend. However, instead of coming out flat I think that the Longhorns will have a little bit of confidence and I expect them to play well in this spot. They have scored 116 and 84 points in their last two games and things look like they could be starting to click for this bunch of losers. Appalachian State is woefully overmatched here. This team actually tries to play fast (they are No. 93 in adjusted tempo) and that should play into Texas' hands. If the Longhorns work their press, Appalachian state is one of the 10 worst teams in the country in terms of turnovers.
