Don't buy in to a lot of the trends that you will see for this game. Many of the Suns victories/covers over the Pacers as of late are due to impressive guard play, and a lack of Paul George. George missed both games versus Phoenix last season, and over the past few years the Suns backcourt has featured the likes of Goran Dragic (gone), Isaiah Thomas (gone), and Eric Bledsoe (hurt). This Suns team is a shell of what they have been in the past, while the Pacers are an impressive home team. This line is high for a reason. I would not be surprised at all to see Indiana win this game by 20+ points. The Pacers can clamp down defensively, and when the crowd gets involved their offense can roll over a team. The Pacers have the length and athleticism to cause mismatches at both ends of the floor and they will look to do so tonight, especially by pushing the tempo to create easy baskets and run the Suns out of the gym. Don't worry about laying a big number, it won't come in to play.

Neither the Blues nor the Devils have been playing great as of late. New Jersey is 5-4-0-1 in their last ten games and St. Louis is 4-3-2-1 over theirs. The Devils continue struggling on the offensive end of the ice and are now averaging only 2.2 goals per game which is one of the worst in the NHL. But the Devils rank 4th in the league in goals against where they are only giving up 2.3 per game. St. Louis on the other hand has been giving up almost 3 goals per game over their last 8 and lost some key players in the Anaheim game the other night. The Blues have gone into 4 straight OT/SO games and think this is going to wear on them tonight. I will take Defense over the offense tonight. Look for the Devils to upset the Blue tonight in St. Louis.

2-Unit Play. Take #61 Nashville (+135) over Chicago (8:35) p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12)

These two teams have already faced each other twice back in December with each club taking a win. Nashville won the last battle 5-1 on the 10th and Chicago won 4-1 two days before on the 8th. I understand that the Blackhawks are 7-0 in their last 7 games and also realize that they are 18-6 at home on the season but Nashville is an area that they don't want to be right now and feel as though they are desperate for some wins. Chicago lost three times at home in the month of December and think they are going to have a letdown game tonight. Look for the upset in Chicago tonight.

4-Unit Play. Take #66 Colorado (+110) over Tampa Bay (9:00) p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12)

Tampa Bay will try to win in Colorado for the first time since March 1st, 2004. The Lightning are 2-8-2 with two ties all-time in Denver. They are averaging 1.50 goals per game on the season which is down from its league best 3.16 last season. The Lightning haven't scored more than 3 goals in any of their last six games but are only 5-5 in their last 10 games. Colorado is averaging 4 goals per game in their last four games while playing some really good teams over the stretch. The Av's have beaten LA, St. Louis and Nashville, their only loss came from the Blackhawks at Chicago. Look for the Av's to win at home tonight.

Carolina still remains one of the more undervalued teams in the NHL. The Hurricanes are ranked very high in the advanced stats at 4th overall in Corsi For %. In 17 of their last 18 games they've either won the game or lost the contest by only a single goal. The lone exception to that during that time was when Carolina allowed a late goal with just 21 seconds left to lose by a 2-0 score to a Florida team who was in the early stages of their 12 game winning streak at the time. This is a solid team at a nice price here at home.

Offense will be displayed tonight in Ann Arbor, Michigan and grab this number now because I see this game closing around 142 or higher. Both teams are averaging over 78ppg and if the Wolverines defense plays like they did against Purdue then this game flies over. Michigan gave up 87 points to Purdue in their last game and you figure Maryland will want to run since their last game Wisconsin held them to 63 points. Michigan is 6-0 O/U in their last 6 games and the Wolverines are 7-0 O/U in their last 7 conference games.

The Phoenix Suns are going to be a big fade team for me for the rest of the season and tonight this game will get ugly quick. The Phoenix Suns last two road games they lost 97-77 to the Lakers (yes the Lakers) and 142-119 to the Kings and tonight I see another double-digit loss. Indiana comes home after splitting a 4 game road trip and their last home game they beat Detroit 94-82 and we had the Pacers that game. Indiana pulls away in the second half and wins big! The Suns are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games and the Pacers are 5-2 ATS after allowing 100 points or more in their last game
