4-Unit Play. Take Crystal Palace (+154) over Aston Villa (2:45 p.m., Tuesday, January 12) (English Premier League)
Good value play on Crystal Palace here. Aston Villa are winless at home this year and bottom of the Premier League standings. Palace are currently in seventh place in the table and have good standing away with 11 goals scored. Villa have scored just six times in nine home matches. I'll play the underdog and look for a good cash from the South London squad.
4-Unit Play. Take Stoke City (+105) over Norwich (2:45 p.m., Wednesday, January 13) (English Premier League)
Stoke host this fixture and find themselves with plus-money odds, which are hard to turn away from. Norwich have allowed the third most away goals this year in the league (22), while Stoke have been very defensively sound at home with just nine goals from nine home matches. These are two sides going in opposite directions at the moment. Give me the home side and the better defensive club in this one.
5-Unit Play. Take Swansea (-128) over Sunderland (2:45 p.m., Wednesday, January 13) (English Premier League)
Welsh side Swansea are a club fighting to stay out of the relegation zone, just two points above the bottom three at the moment. However at home this is a big fixture for them to get three points for the cause. Sunderland are in even worse off position in second to last, and away this year they have been quite dreadful. They've allowed the most away goals in the EPL by far (28), and we're backing a side that know this is a very important result to get for them. All out for the Swans here, 3-1
4 Unit Play. Take Swansea City -135 over Sunderland (2:45p.m., Wednesday, Jan 13) (Graded after regulation time - 90min - plus injury time - if the game end in a DRAW we have a loser)
Sunderland comes into Liberty Stadium losers of 5 out of 6 games and YES they won their last league game but that game was at home. The Swans last home game they beat 1-0 against West Brom and I see the Swans dishing out another stellar outing at home. Swansea City have lost just one of their last 15 Premier League meetings against Sunderland going 6-1-8 and if the Swans and get a goal early I see them holding and winning

5-Unit Play. Take #2 Toronto (-155) over Columbus (7:05) p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13)
Both of these teams are shady at best but I continue to see improvement from this Maple Leafs squad while only seeing regression from Columbus. After trading one of their top players away and losing many of their players to injury (along with Bobrovski) the Blue Jackets find themselves looking at a season lost. The team is now 4-6 in their last ten games and 2-8 in their last ten on the road. They have given up 12 total goals in their last three games while scoring 6 of their own. The Maple Leafs on the other hand have been playing some elite talent over their last ten games while going 6-4 over the course. They strung 3 wins together against St.Louis, Anaheim and the Kings before they dropped their last two at LA and San Jose. Toronto is faster, has the better offense, defense, power play and is more disciplined on the ice. I think Toronto is going to come out flying tonight at home. They have played their last three games on the West Coast and will be well rested unlike the Blue Jackets tonight.
6-Unit Play. Take #6 Calgary (+105) over Florida (9:35) p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13)
I am very surprised that Calgary has lost 4 of their last 5 games at home and anticipate this trend turning around tonight. Prior to this slide at home they were 11-0 at Scotiabank Saddledome Arena. I know the Panthers are hot right now but the Flames are due for a win at home and have played very well against the East where they are 6-1 in their last 7. There are not many teams in the NHL that can continue winning on the road like Florida has and you saw that happen the other night against Vancouver. They are 6-1 in their last 7 games on the road and now face a Calgary team flat out due for a win at home. I also like Calgary after they allow their opponent to score 5 goals or more in their previous game. They are 4-1 in this situation.
3 Unit Play Take #2 Toronto -150 over Columbus (7:05pm est):
I tend to stay away from lines that are this high but this game just offers way too much value to pass on. Toronto returns home here after playing 3 tough games in California and doing so over a 4 day stretch. The Maple Leafs were hammered in their last game which was their final game of the trip by a 7-0 score at San Jose. They caught a motivated Sharks team that was coming off back to back losses while the Maple Leafs looked like a tired and disinterested team in the game. It was the most embarrassing game this season for their 1st year head coach Mike Babcock. They've had three full days to rest up and Babcock is the type of coach that will have this group focused and intense here off that ugly performance. The bigger news for me in this one is that the Maple Leafs will go with James Reimer in the nets here. Reimer has recently returned from an injury situation that had him out for almost a month of action. He's having a solid season so far and with this being the 3rd game back for him that he's played since being out I expect him to be at 100% overall.
Columbus is in a tough spot here as they come in off a loss last night and had to travel right afterwards here to Toronto to play a well rested Maple Leafs team. The Blue Jackets have a ton of injuries right now with 6 players currently listed as out for this game on their current injury report. They've dropped 4 straight games and 7 of their last 9 overall. They're also an ugly 2-9 their last 11 games on the road which makes this back to back spot here look even more difficult especially with their depleted roster.
Take Toronto here.
3 Unit Play Take #4 Philadelphia +100 over Boston (8:05pm est):
The Boston Bruins have dropped 7 of their last 9 games despite playing what was an easier than normal schedule during that time. The Bruins have been an overvalued team for these last two seasons as the betting markets continue to price this team as an upper level squad despite the fact they haven't been so for quite a while now.
The Philadelphia Flyers are playing some excellent hockey of late with three straight wins coming into this one. They did drop the three games before this current win streak but keep in mind that they were all games played on the west coast and they were also listed as underdogs in each one of those contests. The Flyers have won their last five straight home games overall and look like a much more confident team of late and one that believes in itself.

3-Unit Play. Take #545 Northern Iowa (-1) over Indiana State (7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13)
This line is way off. Northern Iowa is the second-best team in the Missouri Valley behind Wichita State. And this UNI team already has wins over North Carolina and Iowa State this year. They have lost two of their last three games. But those losses were by one point and two points. This team could easily be 4-0 in league play. Indiana State has won three straight in league play. But I have not been impressed by this team at all. They are 6-0 ATS in their last six games but now they are overvalued by the books and the bettors. The value is going the other way on the more proven Panthers club. Northern Iowa has beaten Indiana State three straight times and will do it again today. The Panthers are 15-5 ATS in their last 20 league games and the road team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in this series. I will go with UNI.
4 Unit Play. Take #578 Colorado -4 over Oregon St (11:00p.m., Wednesday January 13 ESPNU)
Both teams are fantastic at home and tonight we are taking the home team Buffs in Coors Event Center. Yes I know we have been cashing tickets on the Beavers and their much improved offense but again beating Colorado at home tonight is a hard order to accomplish. Colorado is coming off a bad home loss to Utah in their last home game and tonight I don't see Colorado losing 2-straight home games to start conference play. The favorite in this series is 7-3-1 ATS.
2 Unit Play. Take #533 Under 146 La Salle at Richmond (7:00p.m., Wednesday January 13)
This play is all on the offense of the La Salle Explorers! La Salle is playing with just 6 scholarship players so they are going with a new style of holding the basketball for as long as possible and then run their offense. La Salle's slowdown style got them a 61-57 win at home over Dayton and I know Richmond will have no problem winning tonight but I see a slow pace game.

4 Unit Play. Take #518 Portland -2.5 over Utah (10:05 p.m., Wednesday, January 13)
Portland is completely healthy coming into this game, and it's rare for a team to have a clean injury sheet like this. That is one of the big reasons we like the Trail Blazers tonight. They are just the more complete team in this matchup. Derrick Favors is one of Utah's best players, and he is questionable tonight and won't play full minutes even if he does take the court. His near-17 points per game is missed, and this team has struggled to score even more than normal without him. Portland has been playing very well on offense the last couple games and I think they will be able to score on this Utah defense tonight. They come in well rested with two nights off (Portland is 6-1 ATS with two or more days of rest) and they will be playing with a lot of confidence after knocking OKC off last time out.
