Looking to bet against the team I felt was the most overrated team at the All-Star break again here in this one. The NY Islanders are dealing with a few key guys being out of their lineup right now due to injury and the betting markets still have done a poor job with pricing these guys out. No way they should be favored right now


Take Minnesota.

3-Unit Play. Take #11 Florida (+140) over Washington (7:35) p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2)


With the Washington Capitals only playing their second game in 14 days and Alex Ovechkin out the Florida Panthers have a great shot to beat Washington at home tonight. These two teams have played each other twice this year already with the Caps taking game one 2-1 in OT and then losing 4-1 in December. Potentially these are the best two teams in the East right now and I am sold on how Florida is playing hockey. Prior to the All-star break the Panthers won 3 straight with some impressive numbers. They beat Chicago 4-0, Tampa 5-2 and then finished beating Toronto 5-1. Now, all of these were at home but the Panthers have played well on the road this year as well. They are 13-8-2 on the season and have played well after a win on the road where they hold a 9-3-1 record. I think Washington is going to need a week of game play before they get back to form and without the Russian sniper tonight I like Florida's chances.


3-Unit Play. Take #2 NY Islanders (-130) over Minnesota (7:05) p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2)


NY is 13-4 in their last 17 at home versus a team with a road percentage of less than .400 and 12-4 against the Western Conference. The Islanders went into the break playing better than the Wild and I don't trust Minnesota on the road. The Wild are 7-15 in their last 22 on the road and 1-6 against the East. I will take NY's offense at home to over power the Wild tonight. They are ranked 8th in the league in scoring where they are averaging 2.7 goals per game. On the other spectrum, Minnesota has really struggled on the offensive end. The Wild have only 11 total goals during an 8 game stretch and although Dubnyk has been strong in between the pipes (2.33 GAA) the lack of scoring continues to hinder this club. Look for the Islanders to handle business at home tonight.


3-Unit Play. Take #15 St. Louis (+115) over Nashville (8:05) p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2)


The Blues are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and 7-2 in their last 9 meeting in Nashville. St. Louis has the better defense, penalty kill, and goal tender in this match-up. I like how this Blues team plays hockey and think that they are going to be able to score against Nashville tonight. The Predators come in riding a 4 game win streak but have struggled against the Central division. Prior to their 4 game win streak the Predators were giving up more than 3 goals per game to their other 6 of 10 opponents. But those opponents haven't been stellar teams by any means. Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton and Winnipeg are the 4 victories. I like how this Blues team matches up against Nashville and am betting on the physical play of the Blues to over power Nashville's quickness.
