DePaul (+13½) over Villanova

Perfect Play---DePaul Oh what pressure to have to go on the road before having a chance to play at home and be announced as the best in the country. Villanova is No. 1 in the AP Top 25 for the first time in school history and now travels to play on the road. They have no idea how to handle this role. For Nova, Daniel Ochefu has been cleared to play but it''s uncertain. And he''s been out for four straight games so his contribution is suspect. DePaul has already defeated two ranked teams and this is certainly the one they want for their season resume. Myke Henry and Billy Garrett have have some of their best games against ranked opponents. Look for them to rise to the occasion and play great. DePaul tends to play to the level of the competition and the team and their fans will be sky high facing a Number 1 team. Not predicting an outright win but the Wildcats may be another #1 team that goes down with the jinx of that first time ranking
2-Unit Play. Take #59 Los Angeles (-105) over Boston (7:00) p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9)
The Kings struggles as of late have mainly come from inconsistent play within their defensive zone and Coach Darryl Sutter has been addressing the issue. This minor adjustment figures to be necessary in knocking down the red hot Boston Bruins tonight. Los Angeles has given up 18 goals over a 2-4 span which included a 4-2 home loss to Anaheim the other night. Even with the set back this Kings team is extremely dangerous. They are ranked 5th in goals against, 4th on the power play and 9th on the penalty kill. Boston has been winning games but I don't see a drastic difference in their play over the last month. They are 4-3 over their last seven games and not one of those wins has been over 2 digits. In fact, out of those 4 wins 3 of those have come in a shootout or overtime. Look for the Kings to address their flaws and exploit this Boston team tonight.
4-Unit Play. Take #55 Tampa Bay (-115) over Montreal (7:30) p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9)
Tampa Bay is just a different team when Ben Bishop is in between the pipes. In watching the Lightning's lackluster performance against the Senators last night I was shocked to see such a different team from their previous game against Pittsburgh. The Lightning are still one of the hottest teams in the league right now and are averaging 3.5 goals per game while winning 9 of its previous 11 games. Bishop will be back in net for this one and is a difference maker. He has a 1.76 GAA over his last 6 starts and made 31 saves in the first meeting against the Canadians. Ben Scrivens has been pulled up from the minors and is going to be asked to win his 3rd straight for Montreal. I don't see the Canadians inconsistent play beating the Lightning tonight nor do I see Scrivens winning 3 in a row.
3-Unit Play. Take #70 Chicago (-145) over San Jose (8:30) p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9)
The Western Conference leading Blackhawks begin a four game homestand against the San Jose Sharks tonight at a place they rarely lose. Chicago looks to win their 8th straight in the United Center and is now 21-5-1 on the season. This is a well needed four game home stretch for the Blackhawks considering they have only played in the United Center twice over its last eleven games. Corey Crawford will get the nod tonight where he has been virtually unstoppable. He has won four straight against the Sharks and is averaging 1.59 goals against with 7 shutouts in 24 home starts this season. Chicago has the better defense, is more disciplined and has the deeper squad. Chicago is just too good at home.

#750 Kentucky -12.0(-110) Greek vs #749 Georgia double-dime bet
Analysis: If you have Pinnacle you can lay 11 1/2 minus -118......Even if Poythress doesn't go for Kentucky the Cats should clamp down on defense and extend the lead throughout vs. the Dawgs. Kentucky finally played a 40 minute game in the 80-61 home blowout of Florida on Saturday. I see more of the same if Calipari has them focused. If they don't let the Dawgs slow it down to much they should be able to pull away. Tyler Ulis & Jamal Murray are a solid one-two combo that should be too much for Georgia to slow down. Mark Fox is a solid coach but after the Cats ble w games at Kansas and at Tennessee they are zoned in now to playing the entire game not just 30 minutes.
