Analysis: This is a game that points to great value. You have two teams going in two different directions. UNC-Greensboro has won four games in a row. A home win vs. Wofford, a road win vs. Samford, then the most impressive win of the season- a road win over first place Chattanooga and then back home for a 92-63 rout of The Citadel.
Meanwhile a very tragic situation has unfolded in Macon County, Georgia....home of the Mercer Bears. The Bears are one of the more consistent teams ou •t of the Southern Conference, year in year out. Several weeks ago one of their players who was nursing an injury, Jabri Bryan was shot in the head and killed at a local convenience store parking lot. Subsequently two Mercer starters, leading scorer Jestin Lewis (14ppg) and steady Desmond Ringer were both suspended. Initially they were still on the team bench but then even that subsided. I spoke with the beat reporter and he said that nothing is official but the three players may have been together prior to Bryan getting shot an the investigation continues. The shooter has been caught and is in jail but whether or not Lewis & Ringer were involved with this whole thing is still under wraps. Rumors have the three together possibly trying to score some weed or another drug. Either way the whole thing is just tragic. The beat reporter told me Bryan was the nicest kid on the team.
After the shooting & the suspensions the team beat The Citadel. Since then, the wheels have fallen off. Mercer has lost 6 straight games straight up & against the Vegas number.
I will try to take advantage of a team that is in total disarray while UNCG looks to keep rolling. I am playing 3-units on this game. I was able to make money against Mercer the last 2 games including a straight up win by VMI in the last game as 7 point underdogs. I like Greensboro by 7-14 in this one!
