Oregon is the superior overall team here and Duke is really not that good this year. Duke is just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 neutral site games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games when playing a team with a winning record. The Ducks are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games when playing a team with a winning record and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 NCAA Tournament games. There are just too many mismatches for Duke to keep this one close tonight so play Oregon ATS with extreme confidence

The Sweet 16 bring added pressure and many of the same shots taken when playing lesser competition in the first 2 rounds don’t find the bottom of the net so easy. What also often happens in the first two rounds is that a team jumps out to a big lead and the opposition has to push the tempo while the team with the lead doesn’t have the same intensity on defense. These teams are very good offensively but they also play at a slow tempo making multiple passes before a shot. In fact Kenpom.com has the Hurricanes ranked #277 in adjusted tempo with the Wildcats #257. I obviously believe these team match up well and this will be a very tight low scoring game.

There’s not much I need to write here. I have Oklahoma with the better offense, the better defense and with a better record versus a more difficult schedule. I also give the edge to the Sooners as in a tight game their main player , Bobby Hield (#2 NCAA scoring) will be playing at the next level while no one from A&M will and that is the player I want on my team in a pressure situation down the stretch.Lastly Oklahoma was in this same spot LY and can grow from a Sweet 16 loss while the Aggies were playing in the NIT with this experience new to them.

Oregon -3 over Duke
There is no doubt that Duke can get hot on any given night and score their way to big wins, but this team plays little defense and they rely so much on young guys to lead them to victory. I don’t like the make up of this year’s Duke team compared to prior teams. You see many blown leads against weak teams and no depth at all. Oregon is super athletic and should get Duke into foul trouble tonight. I want to see how the young players on Duke react when they have to guard or be guarded by athletes that are more physically gifted. Oregon doesn’t get the respect they deserve as a #1 seed. Duke did a tremendous job this year getting to this point with the little tools they have, but I think that all ends tonight. Take Oregon.

Oklahoma -2.5 over Texas A&M
Oklahoma has the best player in the country in Buddy Hield who can take over a game all by himself. This is a guy you love wagering on down the stretch of a game. Is Texas A&M playing on borrowed time? For 39 mins their best player was nowhere to be found. Northern Iowa lost that game because their only true ball handler had a fluke leg injury and they could no inbound the ball. That kind of fluke comeback happens once in a lifetime. N. Iowa was undersized and lacked rebounding, but still took it to A&M all night. Oklahoma is a hot 3 point shooting team that can put this game out of reach in just a few minutes. I don’t think A&M will do enough to put Oklahoma in foul trouble. The only way you beat the Sooners is if you get to their bench or lack their of a bench. I think A&M is a great team for not quitting the other night, but all the stars have to align for them to be even in this position. Take Oklahoma.

2-Unit Play. Take #69 Dallas (-145) over Arizona (10:00) p.m., Thursday, Mar. 24)

While the Stars look as though they are locked into the playoffs they may not want to be complacent in this Central Division. The Stars only hold a 2 point lead over St. Louis and Chicago is right behind them. Dallas is still the league's most dominating team on offense and has outscored their opponents 13-5 while averaging 3.6 goals with a 8-2-2 record in its last 12 games. Lehtonen continues to improve and has won 6 out of his last 8 games and has a good history against the Coyotes. He now holds a 1.20 GAA during a five game winning streak against the Coyotes. I just believe that Dallas is going to outscore Arizona tonight. This game may be closer than people think but the Stars come out on top.

3-Unit Play. Take #65 Los Angeles (-160) over Winnipeg (8:00) p.m., Thursday, Mar. 24)

After two weeks of bliss the Kings have suddenly dropped two straight and are hoping to avoid losing three straight since the first three games of the season. But even in the last two losses the Kings are still playing at a high level. Los Angeles outshot the Wild 39-18 but lost the game 2-1 while dominating play. One of their issues has been on the power play where the Kings are 0-18 in their last 7 games. Note, Winnipeg has been just as terrible at 1-31 in their last ten games. But unlike the Jets the Kings have the talent to fix this issue especially against a Winnipeg team ranked 25th in the league on the penalty kill. Take LA in Winnipeg tonight.

3-Unit Play. Take #51 New Jersey (+230) over Pittsburgh (7:00) p.m., Thursday, Mar. 24)

What team will show up for the Devils tonight? The team who won in San Jose 3-0 and then in LA 2-1 or the team who lost to Anaheim two nights later 7-1? Even with their highs and lows over the last 6 games the Devils are 4-2 with some impressive wins. Although the trends don't favor the Devils in this game I love the value in the play. I also like the fact that they have beaten 4 top teams over their last ten games. Pittsburgh put a whooping on NJ back on March 6th where the Devils were embarrassed in a 6-1 thrashing but if the Devils come to play tonight there is no reason why they can't beat this Pittsburgh team riding on a high note after their last two weeks. Don't be surprised to see the Devils step up and play with a chip on their shoulder tonight in Pitt.

2-Unit Play. Take #60 Toronto (+180) over Anaheim (7:30) p.m., Thursday, Mar. 24)

Toronto is now 4-1 in their last five games when they play at home and continue to improve even with a lack of talent. They have beaten NY, Tampa Bay, Buffalo and Calgary over the stretch. The Maple Leafs have also been playing everyone extremely tough. The team only has a couple losses over 1 goal in their last 15 games. Everyone is going to be high on Anaheim tonight because they lost against the Canadians in their last game but I think Toronto can surprise the Ducks with the home crowd behind them. Back in January the Maple Leafs beat Anaheim 4-0 and have had their number over the last 7 battles as well. Toronto has beaten Anaheim 6 out of the last 7 times they have played. Take the home team with the value behind them tonight.

3-Unit Play. Take #56 Boston (+-115) over Florida (7:00) p.m., Thursday, Mar. 24)

The Bruins are due for a big win after playing some of the top tier teams over the last for straight losses. The good thing for the Bruins is that they finally travel back home after a brutal road schedule that made them play the Sharks, Kings, Ducks and Rangers. The Bruins have won 9 straight at home over the Panthers but this year's playoff race makes this a must win game for Boston. Florida is expected to start Luongo who has been atrocious against the Bruins where he is 0-6-1 with a 4.26 GAA over those seven games. Look for Boston to quickly bounce back against this inconsistent Panthers squad.
