STRIKE POINT SPORTS 7-Unit Play. #774 Take Valparaiso (-2) over BYU
(7 p.m., Tuesday, March 29)
The first of two NIT semi-finals, i’ll take defense over pace in this one. Valpo has been one of the more reliable mid-major bets over the last few seasons, and it has a large part to do with the Crusaders’ current senior class. This group is as proven as any in the country, and these veterans have helped get the program to within two wins of a big title to wrap their collegiate careers. A win tonight over BYU means the team’s 30th victory of the season. Valpo has the deeper roster and gets production from more players than the Cougars. Not only that, but Bryce Drew’s team has also shown the ability to win away from home. Valparaiso has 12 road wins on the season, and they won’t be unprepared for the big NYC stage here. I trust the defense of this team as much as I do its upperclassmen. Valpo has won each of its three NIT games by an average of 13 points. BYU has managed to sneak by two of their three games. As accomplished a smaller basketball program as Valparaiso has proven to be, they don’t get opportunities like this very often, and that especially will not be the case when this current senior class graduates. I see them seizing the moment and making sure they participate in Thursday’s title game.
Valparaiso gets by the Cougars, 76-71.
7 Unit Play. Take #767 Over 215 Oklahoma City at Detroit (7:35 p.m.,
Tuesday, March 29)
Since the OKC Thunder lost to San Antonio March 12 the Thunder have rung up
8-Straight victories while averaging over 117ppg. The Pistons get this game
at home and the Pistons are well-rested since they haven't played since
Saturday night and Detroit lost 112-95 and we hot the over in that game.
Detroit has been trending OVER games cashing 7 out of their last 10 games.
This game will be featured by both back courts and last night Russell
Westbrook had a triple-double and if the Pistons want to win this home game
their backcourt better keep up the pace. Another reason why we love this
OVER is that the Pistons defense is questionable and their last 10 games
the Pistons gave up over 100 points in 9 of them. If Westbrook and Durant
go off tonight in Motown then we should have no problem cashing this OVER
ticket and I see both teams hitting the century mark. Detroit is 7-2 O/U in
their last 9 home games and the Pistons are also 4-0 O/U following a SU
loss.
4 Unit Play. #778 Take Columbia (pk) over UC Irvine (7 pm CBSSN) Look for the Lions to close out the season with a victory and a CIT Championship. Both teams have guards that can light it up but this is a tough situation with regards to travel for the Anteaters. Irvine has played three road games thus far and that will catch up with them tonight. Playing in Ivy League venues is always a tough chore and look for the Lions to pull away late. Columbia is 43-21 ATS in their last 64 nonconference games.
MIKE DAVIS 8-Unit Play. Take ‘Over’ 129
George Washington vs. San Diego St
(Tuesday, March 29th at 9:30 p.m.)
My spreadsheet has San Diego State winning this game by a final score of 74-70. The key components in this matchup are recent form and style of play.
George Washington has been lighting the scoreboard up in postseason play. They have scored 80+ points in all three games and they have allowed 71+ points in each game as well. They have forced the pace and it has worked out to their advantage so far including a big 82-77 win over SEC power Florida. San Diego State has scored their fair share of points in the postseason as well. They have tallied 79, 93, and 72 points so far this postseason. I look for the Aztecs to continue to score in bunches as GW doesn’t offer much defensive resistance. This is a great matchup in the semi-finals of the NIT tournament. These two teams are from opposite sides of the country but they are both playing some very good offensive basketball right now. Is the stage of Madison Square Garden too big for these teams? Absolutely not. If anything, the juices will be flowing much more. Over is 6-0 in Colonials last 6 overall.Over is 4-0 in Colonials last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.Over is 4-0 in Colonials last 4 games following a straight up win.Over is 5-1 in Colonials last 6 non-conference games.Over is 4-1 in Aztecs last 5 games following a ATS win. I look for a fast paced game and I look for a lot of easy baskets. In the half court offenses, I look for ball movement and offensive rebounding. SDSU crashes the boards really well offensively and I can see them getting a lot of second chance points. I look for a game of streaks and I look for this game to sail over the total with 6 or 7 minutes left in the second half. This will be a fun game to watch and an easy ticket to cash. Take Over.

781 Old Dominion / 782 UC Santa Barbara OVER124.0 Pinnacle single-dime bet
Analysis:You can get 123 1/2 at MGM properties
Just a hunch on this one as both teams have scored better than 68 points per game in 7 of their past contests. They'll be virtually 150-250 people at Mandalay Bay in the inaugural Vegas 16 that started with 8 teams and may be a one and done Tournament.
Greene is out for the Gauchos which takes away a good shooter for UCSB but I'm thinking they should both be able to hit the 62 point plateau “. The rims are friendly at the Mandalay Bay and despite the lack of a crowd the back drop is not bad. Freeman and Bacote are steady scorers for the Monarchs and Breyson and the Gauchos have enough guys that should get their points. Also playing their second game in two days on the same court should help both teams. The schools have also been out here for awhile and have had extensive practice time at the Mandalay Bay as well. I see this one hitting 135.
3* UC Irvine +1 Columbia 7PM CBS College Sports (4* Cal Sports ranking)
To the public this line seems right as Columbia is 24-10 and at home while UC Irvine is 28-9. The difference however is massive as Columbia has played the #254 schedule while Irvine has faced the #104. Another example of the Lions misleading record is obvious when looking at the Ivy standings, Only 3 teams had winning conference records and while Columbia went 10-4 in Ivy action they went 0-4 versus the pair of teams with winning records and 10-0 versus the teams with losing records. The Anteaters meanwhile are among the teams with the most road/neutral wins with a 17-7 record. Irvine has been focused this entire tourney as they knew they were a long shot for the NCAA tourney but getting snubbed by the NIT lit a fire under them. We're well aware that Irvine is playing their 4th straight CBI game away from home but their leader in minutes played per game only averages 30.1 and they have an amazing ten players that average at least 10 minutes per game.
