3-Unit Play.* Take #59 Calgary (+155) over Minnesota (7:05) p.m., Saturday, Apr. 9)
The Wild have entered the playoffs as the 8th seed but won't know who their opponent will be until the last day of the season. But I have not been impressed with this squad as they revert back to the offensive struggles which hindered them earlier in the season. The Wild have produced 3 goals in their last three games while giving up 11 over the stretch. Calgary on the other hand is scoring at will over their last 3 games where they have scored 16 total goals on their opponents. The Flames understand that their season has been lost for a while and are testing new lines and techniques without a care. Minnesota's inability to score is going to be a problem for them in the playoffs and think the Flames can take advantage of this tonight.
7-Unit Play. Take #63 Chicago (-140) over Columbus (7:05) p.m., Saturday, Apr. 9)
Chicago will look to tweak their lines tonight in Columbus as they prepare for the post season and start clicking. Crawford will most likely be back in goal tonight and already has a 4-1 victory over the Blue Jackets on Oct. 17th where he made 22 saves. The Blackhawks record in Columbus is also impressive where they are 9-0-1 in their last ten games at Nationwide Arena. Columbus is set to finish last in the metro and are going to have issues keeping up with Chicago's speed and depth tonight. With Columbus's playoff aspirations smashed a while ago the team will be looking forward to a little vacation time. Look for Chicago to work really hard on defense tonight as they prep Crawford for the playoffs. The Blackhawks need him to win this game strictly as a confidence boost because this is his first game back in over 3 weeks. Take Chicago tonight n Columbus.
3-Unit Play. Take #74 Dallas (-150) over Nashville (7:05) p.m., Saturday, Apr. 9)
Dallas has played its way into a tie for the top spot in the conference while outscoring their opponents 35 to 20 over an 8-2 stretch. In order to have home ice advantage though they must win one more game at home against the Predators. I like the fact that the Stars will be getting some of their key players back from injury tonight and that the game has importance for the Stars while holding nothing for Nashville. This makes me believe they will be firing on all cylinders tonight. Nashville is 1-5 in their last six meetings against the Stars and 1-5 in their last 6 road games. Dallas is a really tough team to beat at home especially with the high stakes at play. Take Dallas against the Pred's tonight.
