For Friday, 2000♦ Double-Your-Wager winner is the New York Yankees with Nova over the Tampa Bay Rays with Odorizzi. At 8:00 am eastern time, the Yankees are +105 both in Vegas and offshore. Note: Both listed pitchers must start, or NO ACTION on this release.
The Yankees claimed yet another series on Tuesday when they wrapped up their series against Houston with 2 wins in 3 games. New York is now on an 8-3 run their last 11 games, and starter Ivan Nova has turned in some quality work here in the second half of the season.
Nova is 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA his last 3 trips to the bump, and in his lone appearance against the Rays, he worked 2 1/3 scoreless frames out of the bullpen.
Jake Odorizzi will get the nod for Tampa, and he very well could be making his last start in a Rays uniform if the talk of a trade comes true. Odorizzi is 1-1 with a 2.84 ERA for his last 3 starts, so expect this one to be like so many of the Yankees games lately -- close and low-scoring with the New York bullpen closing the deal in the later innings.
New York has won 4 of the 6 season series meetings this year, and is on a 7-3 run since last year versus the Rays. I say back the Yankees to open the weekend with the "W".
Note: Both listed pitchers must start, or NO ACTION on this release.
Friday Note
It was a Tuesday 2-0 SWEEP, and I followed it with a Wednesday 2-0 SWEEP.
