It’s been a rough start to the 2016 NFL season for the New Orleans Saints, who take center stage in week 3. But some history may repeat and help the Saints. The Saints have won four of the past five meetings against the Atlanta Falcons playing in the Superdome, including last season's 31-21 victory. It's likely to be another high-scoring affair between the rivals, as Atlanta enters having allowed eight touchdowns drives of 75 yards or more over 23 possessions to start the season. This looks to be the perfect storm for Drew Brees and the 0-2 Saints. Brees is off to a hot start with five touchdown passes against no interceptions and has already spread the ball to 10 different receivers. The trio of Brandin Cooks, Willie Snead and Michael Thomas will really stress the depth of Atlanta's secondary, especially with the Falcons having recorded just one sack through two games. The Falcons without a pass rush are in trouble as the edge goes to Drew Brees playing in the at home and has thrown for 300-plus yards in each of the past four meetings. They could be undefeated had a few plays gone differently. The Saints dropped the season opener 35-34 when the Oakland Raiders successfully attempted a game-winning two-point conversion with 47 seconds remaining. The following week, New Orleans lost to the New York Giants 16-13 on a last-second field goal. This game one just needs history to repeat. New Orleans plays Atlanta well under head coach Sean Payton, defeating the Falcons in 15 of 20 tries. Brees has put up big numbers in his career against the Falcons, throwing over 305 yards per game and 38 touchdowns in 21 contests. Laying a few points is not that big of a deal when the game plan is to beat them with the pass in a high scoring affair. It's no surprise that the oddsmakers have made this game the highest total of week 3.

I do suggest buying the half point to get to +3 if you can. The "3" is by far the most key number in the NFL. I have done so. It's fine if you do not want to pay for it, or have limited outs and can't. I have played a portion of my wager on the Atlanta money line here as well. I really see Atlanta as a very live dog here. This New Orleans defense is very bad and I fully expect this very good Atlanta offense behind Matt Ryan and his slew of weapons to have success this evening. Ryan has been very good this season, bouncing back from a dissapointing last season. Yes, the Faclons defense is not a great unit. I am aware of that, but I really feel like their offensive unit is one of the best in the league & they're being under-valued. I also really like the fact that the Saints will be with out their best offensive linemen for this game. They're missing their stud LT Armstead and he protects Brees blindside. Add on the fact that this Saints club is missing their BEST DB's and that secondary will be in trouble this evening vs Ryan and his slew of weapons. I just really like the Falcons tonight & really feel like they can get this game outright. I will take the +3 here and look for Ryan and his weapons to do enough to give this very weak Saints defense major problems tonight. I'm all over the ATLANTA FALCONS on Monday Night.
