212 La.-Lafayette 5.0 (-110) Westgate vs 211 Southern Miss.
Analysis: Southern Mississippi is a tough team to figure out. The Golden Eagles have been very inconsistent all season, even within games in addition to being that way from week to week. This started right at the outset, where they got blown away early by Kentucky and then staged a remarkable rally to win. But there were far more down results late, and I'm not putting much into the upset of Louisiana Tech as the Bulldogs were clearly not focused with the big showdown against Western Kentucky for the league title on deck. UL Lafayette played its best football late and I like this team's defense. Elijah McGuire should be the healthiest he's been all season and he's the key to the Cajuns offense. The Golden Eagles have a very solid QB in Mullens, and there's no question that the right Southern Miss team can win this. But I like the momentum on the underdog side, and they're very excited about this game. I give UL Lafayette a good shot here and took the points with the Cajuns

209 Appalachian St 1.5 (-110) Greek vs 210 Toledo
Analysis: Appalachian State won this bowl game last season and it's a pretty big deal to the Mountaineers to be back for another year. Not seeing a lot of buzz about this game for Toledo. They came up short in their big game against Western Michigan and haven't played since. Situation would therefore seem to favor App State. Also, the Mountaineers have the better rushing stats on both offense and defense. Teams fitting that profile were 14-4 SU/13-5 ATS last season and I'm a firm believer better running teams have an advantage that increases with the time off between games. Figures as a close game, and while I have Toledo as the slightly stronger overall entry, I'm going to play the rushing angle with what I think is the more interested team.
