I don't like the Wolves coming East in this game. This is the type of game that a team takes for granted and lays an egg. Even if Minnesota wins this game it will be by one-possession. The points are big in this game. The Wolves have 11 wins on the season and don't deserve to be a two-possession road favorite over anyone. Take the home team in this one.

3-Unit Play. Take #703 Utah (+5.5) over Boston (7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3)

Utah will keep this game close. People will try and just look at this game on the surface and see that Utah played last night, and Boston is rested. The Celtics will be a bit flat. It is tough to have a lengthy lay off and then be expected to beat a solid Western Conference team by six. Look for the Jazz to showcase their defensive capabilities in this one and stay inside the number.

Per this selection, you have a top 45 team in Rhode Island who won 17 games last year and who has already won 9 games this year. This team comes off embarrassing St. Louis and we don't necessarily like to take them off such a big win routing them 90-56 but at the same time, we do like that they have not beat St. Josephs in their last 2 years of playing them. That will help their motivation coming in. This is a top 60 defensive team and top 40 offensive team to their credit and has lost to good teams such as Duke, Houston, Providence and Valpo. Phil Martelli's team has some positive aspects and is a good team that is to be respected. They are 120 in offense and defense to their credit. But, bear in mind that they are outside the top 240 when it comes to effective field goal percentage and though they beat George Washington at home, they run into a good Rhode Island team who hangs their hat on defense which is why this differential could be relatively big here. St. Joseph's is 1-4 ATS as a road underdog of late and Rhode Island is 17-4 ATS in their last 21 games as a 7 to 12.5 point favorite.
