NBA Dog Shocker

For Tuesday, Top-Rated 1000♦ is the Charlotte Hornets as the dog against the Houston Rockets. At 8:00 am eastern time, the Hornets are the +9 1/2 point underdogs both in Vegas and offshore.


The Rockets are now at 8 straight wins, and are at 19-2 straight up their last 21 games! Obviously hard to pick a spot where they will stub their toe, and while I am not calling for the outright win by the Hornets, I will call for the underdog cover by a capable Charlotte team that was just stomped on by 17 points on Saturday in San Antonio.


The Hornets are just 1-4 straight up their last 5, as they have dipped to 20-18 now on the season. This is a "gut-check" contest for the visitors, and they do catch the Rockets having played their last pair away from home, and having to pack up and fly to Minnesota for a game tomorrow evening.


This could be the spot Houston does just enough to get by, and does not cover the impost. The Rockets have dropped 2 of their last 3 at home against the spread, and they did lose to the Hornets on the last series meeting last season in North Carolina as their extended series winning streak was halted.


No outright for the Bugs, but they do just enough tonight to stay inside of this very generous impost.

4-Unit Play. #501. Take Over 204 Chicago Bulls vs. Washington Wizards (Tuesday @ 7:05pm est) (You can find 204 at William Hill, Wynn, CG Tech and Stations)
We roll with the Over here as these two teams hook up in what is likely to be an over regardless of the fact there is no Butler and Wade for this game. Hence, you should see a lot of up and down play here as the other guards are more of a pop and shoot type of guards rather than slashers that both Wade and Butler are. This is a great opportunity for the Bulls to showcase their younger talent after a series of big wins as the younger guys have talent when it comes to shooting behind the arc. Plus, you have a Washington team that is on a heater having won 5 of their last 6 games getting back to .500. Look for the Wiz to have a little bit of a mental break too defensively as two of the stars of the Bulls will not be on the court tonight and consequently they will do well offensively with a more free flow offense and a bit lax on defense which yields the over here.

5-Unit Play. #543. Take Under 159 Florida State vs. Duke (Tuesday @ 8pm est)
We roll with the Under here between these two powerhouse teams. Yes, Florida State must be considered a powerhouse after their destruction of Virginia Tech at home. Though the total has taken a quick hit to the Over on the opening we still like the Under here. Note, that these two teams are strong defensive teams by nature. This is a Duke squad that is top 25 in the power rankings in defense and after scoring 110 and 93 points in their last two games against relatively weak defenses of Georgia Tech and Boston College, we like FSU here to really step up on the defenisve side of the ball. FSU is a top 30 defensive team and their most impressive win was going to Virginia and winning 60-58 and this team is a legit contender this year as they are a top 10 team - whose only loss is to Temple - a team they can easily beat if they played them again in our opinion as it was early in the season. Duke will face a very tough test on the offensive end today and FSU will also face a very good Duke defense as this game likely goes under despite the over being a favorite of many. Look for this game to likely hit around the high 140's this evening.
