Per this game, Illinois is a very underrated team with a great defense and we don't see them overlooking Valpo at all. This is a team that lost in the 1st round of the Big 10 Tournamen to Michigan - the same team that won. They just had a tough luck of the draw and this team just had Groce fired and will likely come together as a squad for this game. Assistant Coaches always come together and there is a revived sense of energy when a team loses their head coach as there is almost a renewal of sorts and that is what Illinois has here at home as they will get up for this game and come together as a team for a likely big win here. This is a squad that is very sharp defensively as a top 50 team and a top 120 team offensively. This is an Illinois team that is top 130 in 3 point field goals and comes off back to back losses with one of those losses to Rutgers. But prior to that loss, this team had beat Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern twice and Iowa. Valparaiso for as good as they are are outside the top 230 in 3 point field goals and has not done well against top 100 teams all year long. There is a reason the 18 win team is favored considerably over the 24 win team here as note Valpo is 1-4 ATS against a straight up winning team and Illinois is a solid 13-2-2 ATS when favored by 7 to 12 points as well.
