Analysis: This is the rubber match between these SEC rivals, who split a pair of games this season, with the home side winning each. While SC was noted for its snarling defense for much of the season (and was again on Friday vs. Baylor), its games have become faster-paced as the campaign has progressed, which did not help SC much in its 81-66 loss at Gainesville on Feb. 21. Which proved Florida can shift gears as needed, especially when soph G KeVaughn Allen (13.4 ppg, but 26 in that 15-point win and 35 on Friday vs. Wisconsin) has located his shooting radar. Expert Preview: Libert-UMBC CIT Top Play!
Expert Analysis: This will all come down to Liberty`s outside shooting. The Flames live and die by the three. If they`re knocking them down, this bet will be tough to win. But I`m more receptive to teams with a bit more balance. UMBC also likes the three but their offense is more versatile and the Retrievers are also actually a more accurate team with their treys, hitting at a very impressive 39% rate foe the entire season. The home team also has more experience, which I find to be a valuable component as tournaments progress. I wouldn`t anticipate a rout here by any means as neither of these teams is anything sensational, but I see more edges on the chalk side, so it`s UMBC minus the points.

Sunday's Selection ...

For Sunday, 2000♦ Double-Your-Wager winner is South Carolina as the underdog against Florida. At 7:15 am eastern time, the Gamecocks are +3 1/2 points in Vegas and offshore.


You better start to believe in this South Carolina team!


After pounding Marquette in the opening round of this tournament by 20, the Gamecocks scored 65 points on Duke in the second half, as they came from 7-points down to win by 7 going away. Next? Well, that was Friday at Madison Square Garden when the 'Cocks defense simply smothered # 3 seed Baylor as they went on a first half 16-0 run that broke the Bears will in So Car's 70-50 breeze-job.


Now Frank Martin's team will get a foe they know all too well, as South Carolina faces SEC rival and East Region # 4 seed, Florida.


The Gators have also put together an impressive tourney with wins over East Tennessee State, Virginia (held them to a measly 39 points!), and on Friday in the game of the tournament over Wisconsin in an overtime thriller. A quick recap of that thriller shows the Gators blowing a 12-point lead with just over 5 minutes to go in regulation, then striking in overtime with a 3-pointer at the buzzer to win the game and advance to today's regional final.


I would have to believe that Mike White's team is going to be a little "gassed" when they lace 'em up at the Garden today.


A peek at the regular season meetings - there were 2 of them - show a 1-1 straight up and against the spread split. The host claiming wins in both meetings. Obviously these teams know each other well, with Florida sporting an 8-2 straight up mark the past 10 meetings, and a 6-4 against the spread mark in that 10-game sample.


That's all fine and dandy, but the bottom line today is this is a meeting that is being played 48 hours after the Gators left it all on the floor for 45-minutes. With South Carolina able to use their smothering defense to make each Florida possession a grinding one, I think the Gamecocks eventually wear the Gators down and take this one outright to advance to next weekend's Final Four.
