Analysis: I know how hard it is to believe this, but the underdog is the right side in this game, despite everything Jamie Dixon has done with the TCU Horned Frogs.

I respect TCU's run through the Big 12 Tournament, which included a win over Kansas, but just like the Frogs, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets weren't expected to amount to anything this season.

TCU was picked to finish last in the Big 12 preseason poll, while Georgia Tech was picked 14th in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Here we are at the end of the campaign, and Georgia Tech is 21-15, while Texas Christian is 23-15.

And I have to side with the ACC's Jackets over the Big 12 Frogs. I know we've seen the ACC struggle in the postseason, and it was the laughingstock of power basketball conferences two weeks ago after a slew of teams bowed out early. But I also know one of Georgia Tech's signature wins this season was a 75-63 victory over North Carolina on New Year's Eve.

The Jackets also beat Clemson, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Indiana this season - all formidable opponents.

So while TCU has averaged 78.5 points per game during the NIT, I'm more impressed with the Jackets' defense that has allowed 61.75 points per game in the NIT. Conversely, the Yellow Jackets have scored 74 points per game in the tournament and TCU has allowed 68 points per game.

Georgia Tech is playing its best offense it has played season, while it has generally been an elite defensive team throughout the year.

With North Carolina holding it down for the ACC in the bigger dance, the Jackets will take on the burden of holding it down here in the junior prom.

We roll with Minnesota here on the heavy line for a variety of reasons. Though Minnesota is not going to the playoffs which is a shame because this team has shown great life this year, this is a team that has definitely not quit on the season and they are looking to win each and every game as Tibs needs this team to play well heading into next season. They want to keep what they are doing well and keep getting better with this young core. This team is finally home after a tough road trip where they finally won the last game against the Pacers for their only road win on the trip by a score of 115-114 as a 4.5 point underdog which is why that total was low. This team had lost 6 in a row prior to that game including to the Blazers by a bucket - who had that as a must win game as they are up by just 1 game for the 8th seed, losing to the Lakers in overtime in a bit of a shocker and that too by double-digits, losing to the Spurs by 7, against the Pelicans, Heat and Celtics who are playing decent basketball. So, don't hold the losing streak against this squad as they will be ready for the Lakers as they have revenge and note Minnesota is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games whereas the Lakers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games.

We are releasing our much anticipated 8u Future in Baseball Today as we go for 3 straight winners We roll with the Under here between these two teams in what should be a solid a selection as we go for a huge season in Baseball similar to our span from 2014-2016. Frankly, get ready for a wonderful Baseball Season. Per this selection, we like the Under here as Georgia Tech had a very good offensive showing last game but they face a dynamite defense in TCU today. TCU is from the Big12, a team that is coached by frankly a legendary coach in Jamie Dixon who has a top 60 defense, has the better team by about 40 power rankings, no way Georgia Tech shoots lights out like they did against Cal State Bakersfield as according to their own coach's interviews they are an offensively limited team and Tech itself can only stay in ballgames against top 75 squads with their defense as they are ranked top 10 in the nation on defense. This is a great public fade on Thursday Night Primetime as most of the public is on the Over, the Under is 4-1 for the Yellow Jackets as an Underdog on neutral footing and the Under is 8-2 for the Horned Frogs as a favorite on neutral footing.

For Thursday, Raise The Bar 1500♦ is TCU minus the points against Georgia Tech. At 7:30 am eastern time, the Horned Frogs are -3 1/2 point favorites both in Vegas and offshore.


No doubt a case can be made for both Georgia Tech and TCU this Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, as both have run off 4 wins in a row in this NIT to get the opportunity to add a Championship banner in their rafters next season, but I am a little more impressed with the Horned Frogs victories than I am with the wins that the Yellow Jackets have accrued.


Georgia Tech first played an Indiana team that did not want to host the opening round game, and wound up firing head coach Tom Crean not long after the game. Then the Jackets used their home court to dispatch a solid Belmont team before heading to Oxford to snare their best win of the tourney against a surging Ole Miss team. Tuesday's win over CS Bakersfield I am going to have to poke hole into, as the Roadrunners were clearly "awed" by playing 3,000 miles from home, and playing in the hallowed Madison Square Garden.


True, the Yellow Jackets dominated them, but let's see if they can dominate a TCU team that sports the more impressive "hit list" in this tournament, as the Frogs own an overtime win in Iowa - not the easiest of venues to win at! They also pasted a very hot Richmond team on their home floor before heading to New York on Tuesday and running away from a very hot Central Florida team by a whopping 15-points.


Both coaches are in their first year at their school, and I am sure both administrative staffs are very pleased with the hires of both Josh Pastner and Jamie Dixon win or lose. That being said, one of these teams has to go home runner-up, and I think it's going to be Georgia Tech.
