7-Unit Play. #713. Take San Antonio Spurs -5 over Portland Trailblazres (Monday @ 10pm est)
We roll with San Antonio as they have a great deal of motivation to do well against the Blazers. This is a Spurs team that will not rest anyone after Coach Pop was nothing short of furious for a lack of efficiency on the offensive end and defensive end in which he tore into his team for their lack of exuection. This is a team that did not play well against the Lakers recently, lost to the Clippers by 11 points at home and lost to the Blazers earlier this year 106-110 in March. This is a team that has huge motivation with a bounce-back in mind, with revenge in mind and wanting to get back on track as they feel that they are not in playoff basketball mode. With the Blazers locking up the 8th seed, we like the Spurs to have the motivation here and to start fast and strong from the get go. The Spurs are 4-1 ATS following a straight up loss and the favorite is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
3-Unit Play. #718. Take LA Clippers -7 over Houston Rockets (Monday @ 10:30pm est)
The Clippers lost by 19 the last time these two teams played in early March and they will be more than motivated and furious when they play this team again today. They come off a big win against the Spurs on the road, playing with confidence and having won 8 of their last 10 games straight up. This team is a defensive minded squad and gave up 122 points to Houston in their last game, need this game for the 4th seed in the Western Conference to hold off the Jazz (who play the Warriors today) so a Clippres win and Warriors win will secure this spot and home court advantage in the first round. Plus, this is a decent public fade and reports are out that Lou Williams will also be rested for the Rockets. So, revenge and a team that will want the 4th seed sets up well here for the Clippers.
