3-Unit Play. Take #955 St. Louis (-110) over Milwaukee (2 p.m.)
I will take the Cardinals. The have won five of six games and they are playing much better. Mike Leake is 6-1 in his last seven starts on Sunday and the Cardinals should control this game. The Brewers are 1-4 in their last five overall and Jimmy Nelson has really struggled. The Brewers are 7-17 in his last 24 starts and just 2-5 when he starts at home. The Cardinals have beaten Nelson six of the last eight times they have faced him and St. Louis is 38-15 in his last 53 games in Milwaukee.
3-Unit Play. Take 'Under' 8.5 Miami at San Diego (4:30 p.m.)
I think both pitchers will have strong efforts today. They both need it. And both Tom Koehler and Luis Perdomo are due. Both know they are in danger of losing their spots in the rotation and they will step their games up. Koehler has had extra rest and the 'under' is 5-2 when he pitches in that situation. The 'under' is 5-2 in Perdomo's last seven starts overall.
3-Unit Play. Take #963 Washington (-1.5, +110) over New York (8 p.m.)
This game will be all Nationals. They have won the first two games in this series and now they are going for the sweep on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. Max Scherzer is one of the best in the game. He will be at his best in prime time. Scherzer has 24 strikeouts in just 19 innings this year and a 1.37 ERA. He has three quality starts to open the season and has dominated the Mets. Scherzer will be too much for a New York team that is missing some of its best players because of injury.
4 Unit Play. Take #976 Oakland -120 over Seattle (4:05p.m., Sunday April 23)
Late this afternoon the Oakland A's will go for the 4-game home sweep against the struggling Seattle Mariners and the A's bats should hit Seattle hard early. Oakland has won 5-straight home games and the A's bats today get to square off against Seattle starter Yovani Gallardo. Gallardo has struggled in his first 3-starts going 0-2 (Seattle 0-3) with an ERA 6.19 and if he can keep the ball down today I see the A's hitting him hard and scoring early. The A's today will throw out Andrew Triggs who has been a big surprise this young season going 3-0, 0.85 WHIP, and 0.00 ERA. Throw in that the Seattle Mariners is 0-6 in their last 6 road games and the Oakland A's are a perfect 5-0 in their last 5 meetings against the Mariners.
