3 Unit Play. Take #951 Washington -130 over Arizona (7:05p.m., Wednesday May 3)
Washington has dropped 3 out 4 home games but that streak stops tonight at Nationals Park. Nationals starter tonight is Gio Gonzalez and his last 3 starts he is 2-0 (Nats 3-0) WHIP 1.13, and ERA 2.21 and his last start was in Colorado and the Nats won 16-5. Robbie Ray takes the mound for the D-Backs and Ray is 7-18 in his last 25 road starts and if he struggles tonight the Nationals will hit him hard. Washington is 11-4 in their last 15 starts and the D-Backs are 2-7 on the road against a left-handed starter.
7-Unit Play. Take #953 Pittsburgh (-130) over Cincinnati (7 p.m., Wednesday, May 3)
The Pirates had a blowout win last night. I look for them to get another win here today. The Reds are going with first-year starter Rookie Davis. He has an 11.17 ERA and gave up eight runs and 11 hits in under three innings his last time out. Davis was able to shut down the Pirates the first time he saw them this year in a 6-2 Reds win. But I think that the Pirates will be able to hit him a lot harder the second time around. Pittsburgh is going with its ace Jameson Taillon. He has just a 2.08 ERA this season and has given up two runs or less in four of his five strats. Taillon was the loser in that game to Davis back on April 11. I don't see him losing to the rookie twice. The Pirates are 14-6 in Taillon's last 20 starts and is 5-1 when he starts on the road. The Reds are just 3-9 in their last 12 games overall and just 2-5 at home. I think Pittsburgh will continue what they started last night and earn another big win today.
2-Unit Play. Take 'Under' 9.0 Oakland at Minnesota (8 p.m., Wednesday, May 3)
This total opened at 8.0 and has been bet up to 9.0. This number is way too high. Oakland has one of the worst lineups in baseball. The have scored two or fewer runs in six of their last eight games. The A's are averaging just 2.4 runs per game over their last 10 games. Both pitchers have been very good lately. Kendall Graveman has just a 2.25 ERA on the season and a 1.00 WHIP. He is doing a great job keeping the ball down. Hector Santiago has just a 2.43 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP and the lefty will be able to shut down this A's lineup. This is an easy 'under' call.
2-Unit Play. Take #952 Washington (-135) over Arizona (7 p.m., Wednesday, May 3)
Gio Gonzalez has been excellent to start the season, posting four straight quality starts and winning four straight. Washington got slapped around in Game 1 of this series but I think that they will be able to rebound here behind one of their hottest pitchers. The Diamondbacks are going with Robbie Ray. But Washington has been crushing left-handed pitching all season long, batting nearly .370 as a team against southpaws. The Nationals are 5-1 after a loss and 11-4 in their last 15 overall. Gonzalez is 8-2 when he starts at home and I think he will get the better of Ray.
2-Unit Play. Take #958 Chicago Cubs (-1.5, +110) over Philadelphia (8 p.m., Wednesday, May 3)
The Cubs rebounded from their surprise loss in Game 1 to get an easy win yesterday. I'm looking for more of the same here. Jake Arrieta has had back-to-back poor efforts, giving up 10 runs in 10 innings his last two starts. I think he is due. This is only Arrieta's second home start this season and he should have his good stuff today. Jerad Eickhoff has been sharp. But he has also lost five straight road starts and four of his five starts overall. The Phillies are just 7-19 on the road and they are just 20-42 in their last 62 games against teams from the Central.
2-Unit Play. Take #963 Colorado (-120) over San Diego (10 p.m., Wednesday, May 3)
Jered Weaver is 0-5 in his five starts and his ERA is creeping up near 5.00. We will just continue to bet against him as long as the Padres keep trotting him out there. Antonio Senzatela was very good against the Padres in his second career start and I think that he'll find the sledding even easier being able to throw in this pitcher's park. Senzatela has been very good for the Rockies since being inserted into the rotation so we will ride the hot hand. The Padres are just 12-27 following a win and I don't think there are going to be too many instances where the Padres win four in a row this year.
Today's Totals

The Washington Nationals will look to get things back on track after losing three of their last four games when they take on the Diamondbacks at Nationals Park in Washington DC on Wednesday night. Gio Gonzalez (3-0, 1.62 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) will get the start for the Nationals and he will be opposed by Robbie Ray (2-1, 3.56 ERA, 1.35 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Diamondbacks. Washington has posted a 5-1 record in their last six games following a loss and they have gone an excellent 8-2 in Gonzalez's last ten home starts. The DBacks, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 2-7 in their last nine road games where they faced a left-handed starter and they have lost eight of Ray's last ten starts where they faced a team with a winning record. Throw in the fact that the Nats have won 14 of the last 20 head to head meetings between the two teams and we'll lay the small price with them here to get the home win in DC on Wednesday night.
4 Unit Play. Take #954 Cincinnati Reds +120 over Pittsburgh Pirates (7:10 PM, Wednesday, May 3)
The Cincinnati Reds will look for their third win in their last four games when they take on the Pittsburgh Pirates at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, OH on Wednesday night. Rookie Davis (0-1, 11.17 ERA, 2.59 WHIP) will get the start for the Reds and he will be opposed by Jameson Taillon (2-0, 2.08 ERA, 1.25 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Pirates. Cincinnati has posted a 5-2 record in their last seven Game #3's of a series and they have gone an excellent 5-1 in their last six head to head meetings with the Pirates. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, has struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 2-6 in their last eight road games versus a team with a losing record and they have that same 2-6 record in their last eight games where they faced a right handed starter. Throw in the fact that the Pirates have lost 15 of their last 21 games versus a NL Central Division rival and we'll take the Reds at the small underdog price to get the home win in Cincinnati on Wednesday night.

The Mets have posted an 11-5 record in their last sixteen road games where they faced a team with a losing record and they have gone an excellent 4-1 in deGrom's last five starts versus a team with a winning % of .500 or lower. The Braves, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have lost seven of their last ten games versus a NL East Division rival and they are just 1-4 in their last five games where they faced a right-handed starter. Throw in the fact that the Mets are 12-4 in their last sixteen road games against the Braves and we'll lay the price with them here to get the road win in Atlanta on Wednesday night.

Chicago has posted a 10-4 record in Arrieta's last fourteen starts versus a team from the NL East and they have gone an excellent 38-17 in their last 55 home games going back to the middle of the 2016 season. The Phillies, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they are just 6-18 in their last 24 road games and they have lost six of Eickhoff's last seven starts versus a team from the NL Central. Throw in the fact that the Cubs are 6-2 in the last eight head to head meetings between the two teams and we'll lay the big number here with them in a game that our numbers have them winning pretty easily in Chicago on Wednesday night.

Adam Wainwright (2-3, 6.12 ERA, 1.84 WHIP) will get the start for the Cardinals and he will be opposed by Chase Anderson (2-0, 2.10 ERA, 1.07 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Brewers. 4-1 record in their last five games where they faced a starting pitcher with a WHIP of 1.15 or lower and they have gone an excellent 8-3 in their last eleven games versus an NL Central Division rival. The Brewers, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 2-6 in their last eight games versus a team with a losing record and they have lost twelve of Anderson's last seventeen road starts. Throw in the fact that the Cardinals are a perfect 5-0 in Wainwright's last five starts against the Brew Crew and we'll lay the price with them here to get the home win in St Louis on Wednesday night.
