Nelly's 1* #957/958 ‘OVER 8.5’ Miami Marlins (Volquez) at Pittsburgh Pirates (Cole) 6:05 PM CT
Edinson Volquez incredibly threw a no-hitter in his last start on Saturday, a rare feat in itself but even more surprising given how much the veteran
right-hander has struggled in his first season with the Marlins. Volquez has allowed at least three runs in six of his last 10 starts and his walk rate
is one of the highest in baseball at 4.8 BB/9. His road ERA is 5.12 this season and left-handed hitters have given him a lot of problems.
Pittsburgh’s typical lineup vs. right-handers includes four left-handed sticks led by Gregory Polanco in the middle of the lineup. Despite a
disappointing start to the season the Pirates are only 5.5 games out of the NL Central lead and Pittsburgh has scored 42 runs over the past six
games for a big offensive boost. Needing extra-innings each of the past two days in Baltimore puts some strain on a decent bullpen with back-to-
back defeats, using six relievers last night and four on Tuesday. A lot will be asked of ace Gerrit Cole Thursday night but after a breakout season
in 2015 Cole hasn’t been the same pitcher. He struggled with injury last season and his numbers are marginal through 12 starts with a 4.27 ERA
alongside a FIP that is a half a run higher as well. His strikeout rate has fallen to just 7.6 K/9 and he has allowed 16 runs over his last three starts.
The Miami offense has been heating up batting .281 with a .815 OPS over the past 13 games, posting 18 of the team’s 69 home runs in that run.
These teams combined for 31 runs over three games in late April and Miami remains one of the league’s top ‘over’ teams at 34-21-3 on the
season. Miami went 2-0 vs. Cole last season and Volquez is posting a 1.64 WHIP in his road starts while coming off a historic performance that
could leave him taxed for his next outing while the Marlins own a 5.46 bullpen ERA in road games this season.

ESPN Smash Pass - Rickenbach MLB Thursday 10* Top Play OVER the total in New York Yankees vs
Boston Red Sox @ 7:05 ET - Many books opened this total up at an 8.5 yesterday afternoon but the
betting markets are telling the odds makers they don't know what they're doing as the markets have
forced the odds makers down to a 7.5 with this total as of Thursday AM. Long-time followers know how
I feel about the value of the odds makers compared to the betting markets! The point is that we're
getting extreme line value here with this big downward move on this total. Yes I know David Price is on
the mound for the BoSox but he has allowed 14 earned runs on 32 hits in 18 innings of work spanning
his last 3 starts against the Yankees. Also, all 3 of those outings came after the midway point of last
season so it's not like it is ancient history by any stretch of the imagination. Price will be opposed by the
Yankees Michael Pineda. The Yanks right-hander has allowed 7 earned runs on 13 hits including 4
homers in his last 2 home starts versus the Red Sox. Also, Pineda comes into this outing off of a rough
start in his most recent outing. The over was 5-2 in the Yankees last 7 games before yesterday's game
stayed just under the total. The over is 19-10 in Yanks divisional games this season. The over is also 13-7
in Boston's last 20 road games. More of the same here as both pitchers struggled against lineups that
have fared very well against them in recent meetings. 10* OVER the total in the New York Yankees game
Contrarian Crusher - Rickenbach MLB Thursday 10* Top Play Colorado Rockies Money Line (+) @
Chicago Cubs @ 8:05 ET - The Rockies are a big dog here despite being 21-10 on the road this season. I
understand the Cubs have Jon Lester on the mound and the veteran southpaw is known for pitching well
at home. However, Tyler Chatwood gets the start for the Rockies and the right-hander went a fantastic
8-1 with a stellar 1.69 ERA away from home last season and is 3-3 with a 2.68 ERA on the road this
season. Incredibly, opponents are batting just .168 against Chatwood when he faces them away from
Coors Field. As you can see, Chatwood's overall numbers this season and last season have certainly been
impacted by the fact he pitches his home games at hitter-friendly Coors Field. The fact is that Chatwood
has been dominant in road outings and I expect that to continue here. The Cubs are only 5-7 in their last
12 games. In those dozen games, the Cubbies had just 2 big games at the plate. In the other 10 games,
the Cubs averaged just 5.1 HITS per game. As you can see, Chicago really hasn't been hitting the ball well
at all and Chatwood is 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA in his two career starts against the Cubs. The Rockies have
won 5 of their last 6 games and have averaged 7 runs and 11 hits per game in those 6 games. Look for
them to stay hot here as Lester has allowed 9 earned runs on 13 hits (including 3 homers) in last 2 starts
and those outings have spanned just 9 and 1/3 innings! 10* COLORADO ROCKIES money line

NBC Blowout Rout - Rickenbach NHL Thursday 10* Top Play Nashville Predators Money Line (+) @
Pittsburgh Penguins @ 8 ET - The Predators have outshot the Penguins in every single game in this
series. The Pens are 0 for 13 on the power play in the last 3 games. The Preds are 4 for 12 on the power
play in this series. Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne has proven he's "back" in this series and he's highlymotivated to record his first ever win at Pittsburgh. The Predators have looked to have a little more
energy than the Penguins and a little extra "step" on them in the last two games and they certainly have
all the momentum back in this series. No Stanley Cup champion has repeated in the past twenty years.
The point is that it is not easy and the way the Preds have taken back momentum in this series, and
knowing that the Penguins can't help but now have some self doubt, I expect the Predators to "steal"
Game 5 on the road. All the pressure is truly on the Penguins here and it is tough to play with pressure.
Not only the pressure of being the defending Stanley Cup champs but also the pressure of now trying to
defense home ice even though they lost the last two games by a combined score of 9 to 2 in Nashville. In
my opinion, all things considered, the Penguins are very over-priced here and there is tremendous
underdog line value with the Predators. Look for the Preds to improve to a perfect 4-0 in this post-
season when tied in a playoff series. 10* NASHVILLE PREDATORS on the money line

4 Unit Play. Take #951 St Louis Cardinals -105 over Cincinnati Reds (12:35 PM, Thursday, June 8)

The St Louis Cardinals will look to break their six-game losing streak along with avoiding a four-game sweep at the hands of the Reds when the two teams meet at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, OH on Thursday afternoon. Mike Leake (5-4, 2.64 ERA, 0.95 WHIP) will get the start for the Cardinals and he will be opposed by Scott Feldman (4-4, 4.52 ERA, 1.37 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Reds. The Cardinals have gone a perfect 4-0 in their last four Game #4's of a series and they have won four of their last five games after losing the first three games of a series. The Reds, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here today as they have gone just 3-7 in Feldman's last ten starts overall and they are an awful 6-14 in their last 20 Game #4's of a series. Throw in the fact that Cards have won four of Leake's last five road starts and we'll take them at the pickem or so price to get the road win in Cincinnati on Thursday afternoon.

2 Unit Play. Take #956 Arizona Diamondbacks -135 over San Diego Padres (3:40 PM, Thursday, June 8)

The Arizona Diamondbacks will look for their third win in a row along with a three-game sweep of the San Diego Padres when the two teams meet at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ on Thursday afternoon. The Diamondbacks have posted a perfect 6-0 record in Patrick Corbin's last six home starts and they have gone an excellent 11-2 in their last thirteen home games where they faced a lefty-handed starter. The Padres, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here today as they have gone just 2-9 in their last eleven games versus an NL West Division rival and they are an awful 5-14 in their last nineteen games versus a team with a winning record. Throw in the fact that the DBacks have won seven of the last eight head to head meetings between the two teams and we'll lay the price with them here to get the home win in Phoenix on Thursday afternoon.

3 Unit Play. Take #958 Pittsburgh Pirates -140 over Miami Marlins (7:05 PM, Thursday, June 8)

The Pirates have posted an 8-3 record in their last eleven games following a loss and they have gone an excellent 13-6 in Cole's last nineteen home starts where he faced a team with a losing record. The Marlins, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 4-9 in their last thirteen road games and they are an awful 3-13 in their last sixteen Game #1's of a series. Throw in the fact that the Pirates have gone 11-4 in the last fifteen games at PNC Park between the two teams and that we have an auto fade in play here as Edinson Volquez is making his first start after throwing a no-hitter and we'll lay the price here with the Pirates to get the home win in Pittsburgh on Thursday night.

3 Unit Play. Take #959/960 Philadelphia Phillies vs Atlanta Braves Over 9.5 (7:35 PM, Thursday, June 8)

Two teams that have been trending to the over will meet when the Philadelphia Phillies take on the Braves at SunTrust Field in Atlanta, GA on Thursday night. The Phillies have posted a 7-2 record to the over in their last nine road games where they faced a team with a losing record at home and they have gone an excellent 18-7-1 to the over in their last 26 road games overall. The Braves have been an over team as well in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone up and over the number in five of their last six Game #4's of a series and they are an impressive 9-4-1 to the over in their last fourteen games overall. Throw in the fact that the Braves are 4-0 to the over in RA Dickey's last four home starts while the Phillies have gone 19-7-1 to the over on the road when facing a righty and that's where we'll have our play as we expect both starters to get hit around a bit in Atlanta on Thursday night.

3 Unit Play. Take #961 Colorado Rockies +1695 over Chicago Cubs (8:05 PM, Thursday, June 8)

The Colorado Rockies will look to extend their win streak to five games when they hit the road to take on the Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL on Thursday night. The Rockies have posted a 5-1 record in their last six road games where they faced a team with a home winning % of .600 or higher and they have gone an excellent 14-6 in Tyler Chatwood's last 20 road starts. The Cubs, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 1-5 in their last six games when facing a team with a winning % of .600 or higher and they have that same 1-5 record in their last six games following a loss. Throw in the fact that the Rockies have won five of the last seven head to head meetings between the two teams and we'll take them at the underdog price to get the road win in Chicago on Thursday night.

3 Unit Play. Take #964 Detroit Tigers -175 over Los Angeles Angels (1:10 PM, Thursday, June 8)

The Detroit Tigers will look for their sixth win in their last seven games when they take on the Los Angeles Angels at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI on Thursday afternoon. The Tigers have posted a 4-1 record in their last five games where they faced a team with a losing record and they have gone a perfect 9-0 in Fulmer's last nine starts where he went in Game #3 of a series. The Angels, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 3-7 in their last ten games where they faced a right-handed starter and they have lost four of their last five road games when facing a team with a losing record. Throw in the fact that the Tigers are 25-10 in Fulmer's last 35 starts overall while the Angels have lost 40 of their last 58 games when facing a starter with a WHIP of 1.15 of lower and we'll lay the price here with the Tigers to get the home win in Detroit on Thursday afternoon.

4 Unit Play. Take #969 Houston Astros -185 over Kansas City Royals (8:15 PM, Thursday, June 8)

The Houston Astros will look to break their two-game losing streak when they take on the Royals at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO on Thursday night. Lance McCullers (6-1, 2.71 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) will get the start for the Astros and he will be opposed by Jason Hammel (2-6, 5.93 ERA, 1.60 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Royals. Houston has posted a 5-1 record in their last six road games where they faced a team with a winning record at home and they have gone an excellent 9-1 in McCullers last ten starts versus a team with a winning % of .500 or lower. The Royals, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 3-7 in their last ten games following a win and they have lost nine of Hammel's last eleven starts overall. Throw in the fact that Houston has gone a lights out 36-16 in their last 52 road games going back to the 2016 season and we'll lay the price with them here to get the road win in KC on Thursday night.

4 Unit Play. Take #971/972 Minnesota Twins vs Seattle Mariners Over 9 -115 (10:10 PM, Thursday, June 8)

Two teams that have been trending to the over will meet when the Minnesota Twins take on the Mariners at Safeco Field in Seattle, WA on Thursday night. Kyle Gibson (2-4, 7.23 ERA, 1.89 WHIP) will get the start for the Twins and he will be opposed by Christian Bergman 3-2, 4.36 ERA, 1.36 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Mariners. Minnesota has posted a 5-2-1 to the over in their last eight games where they faced a right-handed starter and they have gone a perfect 5-0 to the over in Gibson's last five starts where he faced a team with a losing record. The Mariners have been an over team as well in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone up and over the number in five of their last six games when facing a team from the AL Central and they are an impressive 3-0-1 to the over in their last four home games versus a team with a winning % of .500 or higher. Throw in the fact that these two teams have gone 4-0 to the over in their last four head to head meetings at Safeco and 5-2 to the over in their last seven overall and that's where we'll have our play as we expect both starting pitchers to struggle a bit in Seattle on Thursday night.

2 Unit Play. Take #974 Washington Nationals -150 over Baltimore Orioles (7:05 PM, Thursday, June 8)

The Washington Nationals will look for their fourth win in their last five games when they take on the Baltimore Orioles at Nationals Park in Washington DC on Thursday night. The Nationals have posted a 4-1 record in their last five home games where they faced a right-handed starter and they have gone an excellent 8-2 in their last ten games following a game where they scored two runs or less. The Orioles, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have lost seven straight road games where they faced a right-handed starter and they are an awful 4-10 in their last fourteen games versus a team with a winning record. Throw in the fact that the Nats have won nine of their last twelve home games and we'll lay the short price with them here to get the home win in DC on Thursday evening.
