4 Unit Play. Take #959 Washington Nationals -125 over St Louis Cardinals (8:05 PM, Sunday, July 2, ESPN)
The Washington Nationals will look to break their three-game losing streak when they take on the Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO on Sunday night. Max Scherzer (9-5, 2.06 ERA, 0.78 WHIP) will get the start for the Nationals and he will be opposed by Carlos Martinez (6-6, 2.88 ERA, 1.07 WHIP), who is scheduled to get the call on the hill for the Cardinals. Washington has posted a 4-1 record in their last five road games when facing a team with a winning record at home and they have gone an excellent 17-5 in Scherzer's last 22 starts where he went in Game #3 of a series. The Cardinals, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have gone just 2-5 in their last seven games where they faced a right-handed starter and they have lost seven of their last nine games versus a starting pitcher with a WHIP of 1.15 or lower. Throw in the fact that the Nats are an insane 23-8 in Mad Max's last 31 road starts going back to the end of the 2015 season and we'll lay the short price with them here to get the win, avoiding a sweep in the process in St Louis on Sunday night.
