LISTED PITCHERS: Carrasco/Faria
The Rays won the first game of their four-game series with the Indians last night as Corey Dickerson hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth for the victory. We really like the Rays again tonight and we can’t pass up the huge value with the run line. At the time of this writing, we are laying -135 with the run line this line should be somewhere near -170 according to our numbers. The starting pitchers for tonight’s game are for the Indians RH Carlos Carrasco (10-5, 4.06 ERA) and he will face the Rays RH Jake Faria (5-2, 2.81 ERA)
Carrasco has been up-and-down all year for the Indians. This will be his third start in the month of August and he is sporting a nasty 12.27 ERA in his last two starts. Carrasco faced Tampa Bay once this year and he lasted 3 2/3 innings allowing five runs. We believe that with Carrasco regressing badly of late, Tampa Bay will get to him tonight.
As for Faria, he has pitched excellent for Tampa Bay this year since being called up from Triple-A in June. He has 11 starts for Tampa Bay and in those starts, he has given up more than three runs only once. In six of those starts, he has only given up one run. We believe that Faria is the real deal. He has not faced the Indians in his young career and we believe that gives him a huge advantage especially at home. Our numbers and system have us going with the run line here but we would not be surprised to see Tampa Bay win OR.
So let’s get the job done with the Tampa Bay Rays plus 1 1/2 runs.
