4 Unit Play. Take #142 Eastern Michigan +14 over Charlotte (6:30 PM, Friday, September 1)
The Eastern Michigan Eagles will look to open up their 2017 season with a win when they take on the Charlotte 49ers at Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti, MI on Friday night. The Eagles have posted a perfect 4-0 ATS record in their last four Friday night games and they have that same 4-0 ATS record in their last four games versus a team from Conference USA. They have also covered the number in seven of their last nine games played on an artificial surface and they are a lights out 5-1 in their last six non-conference games. The 49ers, on the other hand, have struggled bit in the spot they are in here tonight as they have failed to cover the number in five of their last six non-conference games and they are an awful 6-14-2 ATS in their last 22 games overall. Throw in the fact that Eastern closed out their 2016 season going 9-2 ATS in their last eleven games and we'll lay the points with them here in a game that we wouldn't be shocked to see them win by 20 at home on Friday night.
2 Unit Play. Take #145 Navy -9.5 over Florida Atlantic (8:00 PM, Friday, September 1, ESPN U)
We believe that Lane Kiffin is going to able to eventually turn things around in Boca but we don't think this is going to happen overnight. The Midshipmen are going to run the ball a lot and FAU had one of the worst run defenses in the country last year. They are also 0-4 ATS in their last four non-conference games and they have failed to cover the number in eleven of their last thirteen games overall. Navy, on the other hand, has been pretty good in the spot they are in here on Friday as they have gone an excellent 4-1 ATS in their last four games versus a Conference USA team and they are a perfect 5-0-1 ATS in their last six September games. Throw in the fact that FAU is just 3-12-1 ATS in their last sixteen home games and we're laying the points here with the Middies to get the road win and cover in Florida on Friday night.
2 Unit Play. Take #148 Wisconsin -27.5 over Utah St (9:00 PM, Friday, September 1, ESPN)
Wisconsin has posted a 4-1 ATS record in their last five games played in the month of September and they have gone an excellent 11-4-1 ATS in their last sixteen games overall going back to the end of the 2015 season. The Aggies, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here on Friday as they have gone an awful 2-5 ATS in their last seven non-conference games and they are 0-4 ATS in their last four road contests. Throw in the fact that Utah St has also failed to cover the number in fourteen of their last seventeen games overall and we're going to lay the points here with the Badgers in a game that our numbers have as a blowout in Madison on Friday night.
4 Unit Play. Take #149/150 Boston College vs Northern Illinois Under 51.5 (9:30 PM, Friday, September 1, CBS Sports Network)
Two teams that have been trending to the under in the spot they are in here tonight will meet when the Boston College Eagles hit the road to take on the Northern Illinois Huskies at Huskie Stadium in Dekalb, IL on Friday night. The Eagles have posted a perfect 7-0 record to the under in their last seven games where they faced a team from the MAC and they have gone an excellent 6-2-1 to the under in their last nine Friday night games. The Huskies have been an under team as well in the spot they are in here tonight as they have stayed under the total in four of their last five home games and they closed out their 2016 season going 4-1 to the under. Throw in the fact that Boston College is a lights out 29-10 to the under in their last 39 non-conference games and 42-17-1 to the under in their last 60 road contests and that's where we'll have our play as we expect points to be at a premium in Illinois on Friday night.
4 Unit Play. Take #151 Colorado St +3.5 over Colorado (8;00 PM, Friday, September 1, Pac-12 Network)
The Colorado St Rams will be out for a bit of revenge when they take on the Colorado Buffaloes at Sports Authority Field in Denver, CO on Friday night after the Buffs blew them out last year by a score of 44-7. The Rams have posted a 6-1 ATS record in their last seven games following a straight up win and they have gone an excellent 11-3 ATS in their last fourteen games when that straight up win was by 20 points or more. They have gone an impressive 11-3-1 ATS in their last fifteen games played in the month of September and they are 15-5-2 ATS in their last 22 non-conference games. The Buffaloes, on the other hand, have struggled a bit in the spot they are in here on Friday as they have failed to cover the number in four of their last five non-conference games. Throw in the fact that the dog is 3-1-1 ATS in the last five head to head meetings between the two schools and we'll take the points here with the Rams in a game that we think they have a good chance to win outright in Denver on Friday night.
BIG AL's RED-HOT MLB DIVISION S*M*A*S*H; 63-37 RUN!
Game Date/Time: 9/1/17 7:05 pm
Our Selection: Orioles Opponent: Blue Jays Line: -164 Rating: 1*
Analysis: At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the Baltimore Orioles over the Toronto Blue Jays. The O's had their seven game winning streak stopped on Thursday in the first game of this four-game set with the Blue Jays. Of course, if Kendrys Morales had sat out the game, then the O's streak would still be intact as the veteran DH was a one-man wrecking crew in Baltimore last night (3 HR, 7 RBI). If the O's are not only going to make it to the post-season, but get past the Wild Card round, they're going to have to get some stingy performances from their most talented starters -- namely Dylan Bundy and Kevin Gausman. Bundy did his part on Tuesday, throwing not only his best start of his career, but one of the best starts in the entire Majors in 2017. Now it's Gausman's turn. We've seen flashes of his immense talent in the past, now he just needs to find consistency. The good news is that Gausman and the O's -- together -- have had a lot of success against Toronto this season. Incredibly, this will be Gausman's fifth start of the season against the Jays, and he is 1-0 with a sparkling 1.99 ERA in those previous four starts coming into tonight. The most important stat however is that the Orioles are 4-0 in Gausman's 2017 outings vs. Toronto. Take Baltimore.
