      Free Pick Friday MLB

Cincinnati vs. NY Mets, 09/08/2017 19:10 EDT

      Point Spread: -1½/+191 NY Mets

      Sportsbook:
      PinnacleSports

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach Free Pick MLB Friday New York Mets Run Line -1.5 runs +190 vs Cincinnati Reds @ 7:10 ET - Going for the big payback here. The reason being that the Mets are 15-2 in their 17 games versus the Reds the past 3 seasons combined. With their 7-2 win yesterday, New York has seen 8 of their last 9 wins come by 2 runs or more. The Reds have seen 34 of their last 38 losses come by 2 runs or more. In other words, when Cincinnati loses they lose big and, odds are, the Mets win this. After all, the 15-2 run in their last 17 meetings with the Reds is certainly noteworthy. Even though Seth Lugo has struggled lately those starts were on the road. At home the Mets right-hander has a 3.50 ERA this season. The Reds will have Amir Garrett getting the start in this one. Cincinnati has lost EACH of Garrett's last 6 starts and he has a 7.40 ERA on the season. I know he pitched well in his most recent start (at the AAA level) but this is not the minors! Look for his struggles to resume and I am taking a "flyer" on the very generous payback offered on the Mets run line in this one. Free Pick on NEW YORK METS on the Run Line -1.5 runs +190 early Friday evening. Best of luck, Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach

        MLB | Padres vs Diamondbacks
Play on: Diamondbacks -1½ -130 at betonline

Jack's Free Pick Friday: Arizona Diamondbacks -1.5 (-130)

The Arizona Diamondbacks want to see how far they can take this streak. They have now won a whopping 13 straight games after sweeping the Dodgers. They had yesterday off, while the Padres played the Cardinals, so they have the rest advantage going into this series.

They also have a big edge on the mound behind Pat Corbin, who is 13-11 with a 3.89 ERA in 28 starts this season. Corbin has been at his best at home, going 8-3 with a 2.64 ERA in 14 starts. He has been virtually unhittable of late, going 5-0 with a 0.50 ERA in his last five starts, giving up just 2 earned runs in 36 2/3 innings.

Jordan Lyles will be making just his second start of the season after giving up 2 earned runs and 10 base runners in 4 1/3 innings against the Dodgers on September 2nd. Lyles hasn't had much success as a starter over the past two seasons. He has gone 1-2 with a 7.77 ERA in six starts over the past two years, giving up 21 earned runs in 24 1/3 innings.

Lyles is 10-35 (-20.0 Units) against the money line when playing against a team with a winning record in his career. His teams are losing by 2.2 runs per game in this spot. The Diamondbacks have won 9 of their last 10 games by two runs or more. The run continues tonight. Bet the Diamondbacks on the Run Line Friday.

          Chris Jordan

My free play is on the Washington Nationals to blast the Philadelphia Phillies tonight, and I'm playing this one on the run line. The Nats owe me, big time, after failing to win on the Run Line last night. They have won four straight and eight of 11, after sweeping a series in Miami, including Wednesday's 8-1 win over the Marlins, and then taking last night's series opener, 4-3.

MAKE NOTE: All Run Line/Total plays automatically list pitchers with the starters who are scheduled to go at the time of the wager. But with this game I am not concerned with who goes for either team tonight and want you playing this game on the Run Line regardless. That being said, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to be sure you have action even if one of the pitchers scheduled to start is scratched, by re-wagering the game if that takes place.

The cellar-dwelling Phillies are 25-50 on the road this season. They're long gone from the playoff picture, and currently have the worst record in baseball.

This series won't be nice to Philadelphia, as the Nationals continue their longest homestand of the season, and will do so with a blowout win tonight.

Washington is a season-high 32 games above .500, and have a good chance to increase that number, as it also hosts the dismal Atlanta Braves and struggling Los Angeles Dodgers while playing 9 more games in the next 10 days.

The magic number for the Nationals is five to clinch the National League East.

          Take Washington big tonight.

The Boilermakers will face the Ohio Bobcats for the 1st time since 1988.

Ohio beat the crap out of a high school team in week 1 (59-0), while Purdue almost pulls off the upset in the loss to Louisville 35-28.

I mean, this Boilermaker team gave the 16th ranked team in the country a HUGE SCARE. Now they face a Bobcat offense with an unproven quarterback who lost all his top receivers from last year, and a Bobcat defense that can not stop the Pass.

I look for Purdue to get it done in the air and get the "W" and the Money.

Would you believe me if I told you after three decades of finally having lights at Wrigley Field, there has yet to be one night game on a Friday night?

                  Tonight is the first time.

And while the Milwaukee Brewers are hoping to make up some ground on the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central, I think this is a good spot for the defending World Series champs to make their own statement and pull away from the pack.

While the Brewers and Cubs still have seven head-to-head games to play, Chicago leads the division and is in front of third-place Milwaukee by five games.

                  All Chicago tonight.

                  1* CUBS

                    Now about this complimentary winner

Last night I nailed the Cleveland Indians, who hit a team-record 15th straight win. Tonight I like the Tribe, who are poised for another big win, this time against the Baltimore Orioles.

Though pitchers are automatically listed when making Run Line wagers, I am insisting you DO NOT worry about who the scheduled starters are. In the event of a scratch, you MUST re-wager the game with the new pitcher(s) who are scheduled. This play will stand no matter who pitches for either team.

The scary thing about Cleveland's 15-game win streak is the defending American League champs became the hottest team in the bigs while ordering room service.

The Indians won all 11 games of their recent road trip, beating the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox.

Cleveland is 36-29 at home this season, and just absolutely dominated the White Sox, 11-2, last night. The Orioles arrive with a 27-39 road record, and struggling to remain in the wild-card race.

Cleveland (84-56) trails the Astros (86-53) by 2 1/2 games for the top spot in the American League. The good news for the Tribe is it need only finish in a tie with Houston, as Cleveland went 5-1 versus the Astros this year.

I love the Indians in this spot tonight.

Minnesota is worth a look here as a short road favorite against division rival Kansas City. The Wins are playing the much better baseball of the two teams and have the big edge on the mound here with Ervin Santana facing off against Ian Kennedy. Santana has been a road warrior with an 8-2 record and 2.48 ERA and 1.034 WHIP in 13 road starts. Kennedy on the other hand is 0-7 with a 6.71 ERA and 1.508 WHIP in 13 home starts. Kennedy also comes in with an ugly 8.30 ERA and 1.845 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Look for Minnesota's offense to get going early and cruise to an easy win here. Give me the Twins -109!

Free Pick on Tigers/Blue Jays UNDER

I really like the value here on the total in Friday's AL showdown between the Tigers and Blue Jays. Neither team swung the bat well in their last game. Detroit scored just 2 runs in a loss to the Royals, while Toronto managed just 1 run against the Red Sox. That was after the Blue Jays managed just 2 runs the night before.

The big key here to the UNDER is the starting pitching matchup, which has Buck Farmer of the Tigers facing off against Marcus Stroman of the Blue Jays. Farmer has been lights out in his 2 road starts, posting a 2.25 ERA and 0.917 WHIP. Stroman has been equally impressive at home, where he owns a 2.55 ERA and 1.211 WHIP in 14 starts. Both pitchers should also benefit from the wind blowing straight in from left field at close to 10 mph, as well as very cool conditions with temps expected to be in the 50s.

UNDER is 6-0 in the Tigers last 6 road games. It's also 4-0 in the Blue Jays last 4 home games after a road trip of 7 or more days, 10-1 in their last 11 at home against a right-handed starter and 57-1 in their lats 8 at home against a team that's won fewer than 40% of their road games. Take the UNDER!

                                PLAY: INDIANS -154

Wade Miley has been sharp of late for Baltimore. But this Indians team is on an incredible roll, and the Tribe has been battering lefties with some almost unbelievable numbers of late. Mike Clevinger still has the occasional start where he loses the strike zone and gets himself in a mess. But those outings are decreasing in frequency and he’s more go with than go against at this point. No bargains to be had on the Indians with the team as hot as it is. But with a bit of a scheduling advantage and the winning streak still intact, I’ve got to side with the Indians here.
