The Chiefs are led by QB Alex Smith. Smith has completed 72.9 percent of his throws this season and has thrown 12 touchdowns with no interceptions. Kansas City struggled last week to put up points and move the ball and have brought back CJ Spiller to add to the run game this week.

Devils at Senators 10/19/17 - NHL Picks & Predictions

        by Adam

        Latest Odds : OTT -142 Total 5.5

The New Jersey Devils (5 - 1 - 0, 10pts) are on the road this week in order to square off against the home town Ottawa Senators (3 - 1 - 2, 8pts). Ottawa will be hosting this game at the Canadian Tire Center in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Ottawa has been struggling to start the season while New Jersey has been better than anyone could have expected. New Jersey is already playing like one of the best teams in the NHL.

The New Jersey Devils will be taking the ice just a few days after beating Tampa Bay in a shoot-out. New Jersey has been winning by the strength that they're showing on offense. New Jersey is ranked 2nd in the NHL in goals scored this season with Will Butcher (8 assists) leading the team as a playmaker. New Jersey should struggle to rack up goals against a stout Ottawa defense.

Ottawa was just shut out by Vancouver in a pretty upsetting fashion. Ottawa had showcased strong defense all season long before finally giving up a trio of goals. Ottawa is ranked 7th in the NHL this year and scoring and they lead the NHL in goals against. Kyle Turris (2 goals, 5 assists) is on fire to start the season and he'll be a big part of this game. Ottawa is sitting in the top third of the Atlantic Division and they'll fight to stay there all season long.

        Recent Betting Trends:
Devils are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference.
Senators are 1-4 in their last 5 home games.
Over is 6-1-2 in Devils last 9 overall.
Over is 7-3-4 in Senators last 14 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game.

Free Betting Pick: New Jersey Devils +132

The Devils are a team that has fought back this year and overcome a lot of odds. The offense for the Devils is clicking and the Senators offense has been fairly suspect all season. Lack of scoring is what will cost the Senators the game. We like New Jersey to defeat Ottawa, 3 - 2.

Lightning at Blue Jackets 10/19/17 - NHL Picks & Predictions

          by Mike

          Latest Odds : CLB -130 Total 5.5

The Columbus Blue Jackets (5 - 1 - 0, 10pts) are heading home to host the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning (5 - 1 - 1, 11pts). Columbus has been one of the hottest teams in the entire league so far in the early portion of the season but can they hold off Tampa Bay? Tampa Bay has shown definitive improvement on both ends of the ice so far this season and we expect them to stay toe to toe with a strong Columbus team.

Tampa Bay has been led by who has to be th early season MVP in Nikita Kucherov (7 goals, 3 assists). Kucherov has been absolutely electric as he has racked up goal after goal -- scoring in seven straight games for Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay is ranked 6th in the NHL in goals scored this season but they are only 15th in goals against. Tampa Bay needs to improve defensively to turn into a real championship threat.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are sitting on top of the Metropolitan Division thanks to a red hot start to the season. Columbus is coming off of an easy win over Winnipeg and the Blue Jackets will try to keep their scoring surge going forward. Columbus has scored 10 goals in the past two games. Leading the charge is left winger Artemi Panarin (1 goal, 6 assists) and he figures to remain a big part of the offensive flow. Columbus is 5th in the NHL in goals against.

          Recent Betting Trends:
Lightning are 4-0 in their last 4 Thursday games.
Blue Jackets are 4-0 in their last 4 overall.
Over is 4-0 in Lightning last 4 vs. Metropolitan.
Over is 5-1 in Blue Jackets last 6 games playing on 1 days rest.

Free Betting Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning +120

The Lightning have a great player in Kucherov who is going to put on a show in Columbus. The Blue Jackets defense actually allowed some goals from a very weak Jets offense and could struggle against a good offense here. We like Tampa Bay to beat Columbus, 2 - 1.

                Latest Odds : BOS -125 O/U 5.5

The Boston Bruins lost in Vegas 3-1 on Sunday and will not head back home to host the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. The Bruins are 2-3 on the season and 1-2 on the road. Boston average just 2.80 goals per game which ranks 20th in the NHL. The Bruins have won eight of their last eleven against a team from the West.

                Recent Betting Trends:

Bruins are 1-6 in their last 7 home games.
Over is 4-1 in Canucks last 5 Thursday games.

Both teams have had some struggled in the early parts of the season. The road team has won four of the last five meetings but lets back the home team here. Boston has the better roster and play makers. The Bruins win 3-2.

Oilers at Blackhawks 10/19/17 - NHL Picks & Predictions

                  by Mike

                  Latest Odds : CHC -180 O/U 5.5

The Oilers made the playoffs last season to break a drought, but now it does not seem like they are able to find the back of the net. However, the Oilers are a team that should be able to play good hockey as the season goes on because they are a younger team and will have stamina that can go on.

Thankfully the Oilers still have Connor McDavid and he is a great talent. McDavid has managed to get 6 points on the year so far and those are from 3 goals and 3 assist.

The Blackhawks are going to play back to back games here and they are a very strong team on the season. However, the Blackhawks have had some issues on the season with the offense because they are a team that had been able to score quite a few goals and that has cooled off tremendously on the season so far.

Patrick Kane is a player who has led the Blackhawks on the year. Kane has been able to score a total of 6 goals on the year so far and that is just a contribution to the total of 8 points he has had on the season.

                  Recent Betting Trends:
Oilers are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Central.
Blackhawks are 4-10 in their last 14 overall.
Over is 4-0 in Oilers last 4 games playing on 1 days rest.
Over is 6-1 in Blackhawks last 7 vs. a team with a winning % below .400.

Free Betting Pick: Chicago Blackhawks -180

The Oilers offense is struggling and the Oilers have had quite a few problems in finding the net as can be seen by the fact McDavid has only managed to get 6 points. The Blackhawks offense has cooled off tremendously, but it is definitely still a strong point for the Hawks. Look for the Blackhawks to win 3-1.

Blues at Avalanche 10/19/17 - NHL Picks & Predictions

                    by Jim

                    Latest Odds : STL -115 O/U 5.5

The Blues have had a very balanced game play on the season so far and that is going to make a difference in how well the Blues are able to do. However, the Blues could easily come out and pick up quite a few wins if they are able to continue to play at the levels they have here recently and this can give them quite a bit of confidence.

The Blues are scoring 2.8 goals a game and giving up 2.7 goals a game. The Blues are converting on the power play at a clip 20.8% on the season and are killing off 80.8% of the power plays they face.

With the Avalanche they have really come out strong on the season, but can they sustain this high level of play for the entire season or not? So far the Avalanche have been able to keep the play high, but they are having some problems as well in keeping the games strong and that can hurt them overall.

The Avalanche are scoring 2.9 goals a game, but are giving up 2.4 goals a game. The Avalanche have converted on the power play at a clip of only 14.3% and the Avalanche are killing off 74.2% on the season.

                    Recent Betting Trends:
Blues are 25-11 in their last 36 overall.
Avalanche are 4-1 in their last 5 home games.
Under is 6-2 in Blues last 8 road games.
Over is 5-2-1 in Avalanche last 8 games playing on 1 days rest.

Free Betting Pick: Saint Louis Blues -115

The Blues have a lot better power play offense and defense. The Avalanche have had some struggles on the year killing off penalties. The lack of power play killing ability will be what does the Avalanche in here as the Blues win a close one 2-1.

Hurricanes at Flames 10/19/17 - NHL Picks & Predictions

                      by Adam

                      Latest Odds : CAL -134 Total 5.5

Carolina has been all over the place this season as they lost to the Jets, but then came out in the next game and soundly defeated the Oilers. So it will be easy to see the Hurricanes are a team that is hard to see what team will take the ice. Will it be the team that is losing games like it is a fashion statement or the team that comes out every so often to win.

Justin Williams in the player who has been strong on the year. So this is going to be a great player who has not really been seen a lot as he already has 4 assist on the season.

Calgary is coming into this game after soundly beating the Vancouver Canucks. The beating the Flames delivered to the Canucks was one that did not even really see them get challenged a lot by the opponent and this can help them out in getting even more wins than what they would expect to get on the year.

Unlike last year the Flames have a good goalie in the net. Mike Smith, the Coyote transplant, is watching the net this year for the Flames. On the season Smith has given up only 2.59 goals a game.

                      Recent Betting Trends:
Hurricanes are 16-35 in their last 51 road games.
Flames are 4-1 in their last 5 overall.
Under is 3-0-1 in Hurricanes last 4 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game.
Over is 4-1 in Flames last 5 overall.

Free Betting Pick: Calgary Flames -134

The Flames have a red hot offense and a defense that is able to protect the net for a change. Look for the Flames to be able to continue to play at a very high level in this game as the Calgary team takes home the win here 4-2

Stars at Coyotes 10/19/17 - NHL Picks & Predictions

                        by Jim

                        Latest Odds : DAL -165 O/U 5.5

Dallas sits at the five hundred mark on the year and they could improve even more because they recently played the Coyotes and ended up winning that game 3-1. So this could easily be a game the Stars are ready for because they did not even have a break before having to face the Coyotes again in a game.

The Stars in the game against the Coyotes were led by fantastic goal keeping by Ben Bishop. The Lightning transplant saved a total of 27 shots that were sent his way. This definitely helped the Stars out quite a bit.

Arizona has yet to win a game on the season and that is definitely going to make it very difficult for the fans to have something to get excited about. However, the Coyotes would like to be able to score to pick up some of the wins they need have. The downside is the Coyotes are struggling quite a bit and they are not going to be able to bounce back very well this year.

The defense has been the major issue for the Coyotes on the season. The defense for the Coyotes is giving up 4.2 goals per game on the season so far.

Free Betting Pick: Dallas Stars -165

The Stars just beat the Coyotes in the last outing between these two teams. That game was on Tuesday. The day off between the games will not give the Coyotes enough time to get in good practice on how to counter the Stars. The Coyotes will lose this game to the Stars 5-2

Clippers at Lakers 10/19/17 - NBA Picks & Predictions

Two teams will open up their regular season on their home floor, when the Los Angeles Clippers face the Los Angeles Lakers from Staples Center on Thursday night. For the past few seasons, the Clippers have been one of the upper echelon teams in the Western Conference. However, that never translated to postseason success and the team decided to deal PG Chris Paul to Houston in the offseason.

The Clippers feature an extremely talented frontcourt trio of Blake Griffin, Danilo Gallinari, and DeAndre Jordan. Lou Williams comes over from the Lakers to fill Jamal Crawford’s instant offense off the bench role.

The Los Angeles Lakers are a team on the rise and have some very exciting pieces for second year head coach Luke Walton to work with. Magic Johnson joined the Lakers’ organization as the president of basketball operations and selected hometown product Lonzo Ball with the number two overall draft pick. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope signed a one-year, 18 million dollar deal to provide Ball with a running mate in the backcourt.

If the Lakers are to make a playoff run this season, it will have to start with an improvement on the defensive end of the floor. Los Angeles finished last in the league in defensive efficiency a season ago.

                          Recent Betting Trends:
Clippers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
Lakers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
Over is 5-1 in Clippers last 6 Thursday games.
Under is 5-0 in Lakers last 5 games overall.
Under is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings.

Free Betting Pick: Los Angeles Clippers -5

Clippers’ G Patrick Beverly (knee) did not participate in Sunday’s practice and is listed as questionable for this contest. This rivalry has been dominated by the Clippers in recent years and I would expect that to follow form in the season opener. Final Score Prediction, Los Angeles Clippers win and cover ATS 114-103

Bulls at Raptors 10/19/17 - NBA Picks & Predictions

                            Latest Odds : TOR -12 Total 205.5

In Thursday night NBA action, the Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors will open up their regular seasons from the Air Canada Centre. The Bulls decided to part ways with veterans Jimmy Butler, Rajon Rondo, and Dwyane Wade so that the team could go into a much needed rebuilding mode. The All-Star F Jimmy Butler was traded on draft night to Minnesota for Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine, and number seven overall pick Lauri Markkanen.

Head coach Fred Hoiberg now has a roster that resembles more of a college team and he will be looked on to implement his pace-and-space offense. Robin Lopez will be counted on for veteran leadership and an inside presence.

The Toronto Raptors tied with Cleveland for the second most wins in the Eastern Conference last season, but were swept by the Cavaliers in the conference semifinals. All-Star G DeMar DeRozan is coming off a career best scoring season in which he averaged 27.3 points per game, which was good for fifth in the NBA. Kyle Lowry averaged 22.4 ppg and 7.0 apg, but injuries he suffered late in the season cost the Raptors in the postseason.

Serge Ibaka is the most talented front-court players on Toronto’s roster and must play at a higher level for this team to reach the Eastern Conference Finals. C.J. Miles was brought in from Indiana and should start at the small forward position.

                            Recent Betting Trends:
Bulls are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games.
Raptors are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 home games.
Over is 8-3 in Bulls last 11 road games.
Over is 10-3 in Raptors last 13 home games.
Over is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings.

Free Betting Pick: Toronto Raptors -12

Chicago F Nikola Mirotic has two broken bones in his face after being punched by teammate Bobby Portis and is out indefinitely. Look for the highly more efficient Raptors to dismantle the young Bulls on opening night. Final Score Prediction, Toronto Raptors win and cover ATS 109-93.

Knicks at Thunder 10/19/17 - NBA Picks & Predictions

In the first game of an NBA on TNT Thursday night doubleheader, the New York Knicks will travel to the Chesapeake Energy Arena to battle the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Knicks decided to end the run of Phil Jackson as team president and moved away from the outdated triangle offense.. New York traded away
Carmelo Anthony to Oklahoma City with the plan to being to get younger, not necessarily better.

The Knicks will build their team moving forward around tremendously talented F Kristaps Porzingis, who averaged 18.1 ppg and 7.2 rpg a season ago. Improving a defense that ranked 25th in efficiency last year will be head coach Jeff Hornacek’s biggest challenge.

The Oklahoma City Thunder made two huge additions this offseason, when they brought All-Star F Paul George and Carmelo Anthony into the fold. George was acquired in a trade with Indiana that only required the Thunder to part with G Victor Oladipo and F Domantas Sabonis. Anthony is now 33 years old and can be a dynamic third scoring option for Oklahoma City.

Reigning MVP Russell Westbrook averaged a triple-double last season and now has the weapons around him to make a NBA Championship run. Westbrook will now have to show he’s capable of integrating two elite scorers into the Thunder’s offensive attack.

                              Recent Betting Trends:
Knicks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games.
Thunder are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games.
Under is 8-2-1 in Knicks last 11 overall.
Under is 7-2 in Thunder last 9 overall.
Home team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings.

Free Betting Pick: Oklahoma City Thunder -11.5

Oklahoma City G Raymond Felton (wrist) and F Patrick Patterson (knee) are both considered questionable for this contest. The Knicks failed to win a game during the preseason and their defensive issues have a long way to go before being fixed. Look for Oklahoma City to roll to an easy victory on opening night. Final Score Prediction, Oklahoma City Thunder win and cover ATS 119-103.

The Chicago Cubs have won five straight games when their backs were against the wall dating to last year’s World Series, and they’ll try to make it six on Thursday. The Cubs will try to stave off elimination for a second consecutive night by defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers at home and sending the National League Championship Series back to California.

Javier Baez homered twice and Willson Contreras also went deep in support of Jake Arrieta as Chicago held on for a 3-2 win in Game 4 to extend the series, handing the Dodgers their first loss of the postseason. Los Angeles had not trailed after the fifth inning in any of its previous six playoff games this year. “We don’t expect anyone to lay down,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters. “They’re the world champs, and you know they’re going to fight to the end.” If the Cubs are going to live another day, someone other than Wade Davis will have to close out Game 5, as the right-hander recorded six outs on Wednesday for his second multi-inning save of the postseason.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Clayton Kershaw (1-0, 4.76 ERA) vs. Cubs LH Jose Quintana (0-0, 1.59)
Kershaw is 5-7 with a 4.57 ERA in 20 career games (16 starts) in the postseason. He split two starts against the Cubs in last year’s NLCS and allowed two runs over five innings in a no-decision in Game 1 of this matchup. Surprisingly, the ace has started only one series-clincher, throwing six scoreless frames to beat Atlanta in the 2013 NL Division Series.
Quintana has been excellent in his first postseason, allowing three runs - two earned - over 11 1/3 innings in two starts and a relief appearance. He gave up two runs and two hits over five frames in Game 1 and left with the contest tied. Quintana went 5-0 with a 4.76 ERA in eight turns at Wrigley Field during the regular season.

                                WALK-OFFS
                                1. All seven of Chicago’s runs in the series have come on homers.
                                2. Dodgers relievers have pitched 20 consecutive scoreless innings and given up only three hits in the series.
                                3. Davis is the first pitcher to record multiple saves of two or more frames in the same postseason since he accomplished the feat in 2015 with Kansas City.

                                PREDICTION: Dodgers 4, Cubs 3
